The motor can easily be transitioned between fixed and plunge bases and the plunge base includes overmold rubber handles for a comfortable and secure grip. I had heard for a long time about the benefits of owning a router. A month ago I finally made the decision to add one to my collection. After much research, I settled on this router from DEWALT (although, it would take a lot to make me break away from the yellow and black brand!). As an amateur DIYer and someone who takes on small tasks around the house, I went for the corded version. If I was a full time tradesman I probably would have opted for the convenience of the cordless model. I also chose this for the plunge base, which was suggested to me by a number of woodworking friends. After using the router on multiple projects, I can definitely vouch for its effectiveness. It’s easy to jump into using, makes accurate cuts, has a straightforward and intuitive design, and lives up to the great DEWALT name! Would recommend this to anyone looking for a compact router!

The nice soft start and the LEDs were the main factors that made me choose this router over the similar size routers available from Bosch and Makita. Very nicely built. The single wrench mechanism to tighten/loosen the collet is very handy. Great for any routing job that does not require the power of a standard size router. Hit the sweet spot for my needs. It does not have the electric brake that the newer cordless model has, but that is only a minor inconvenience if you are a reasonably careful woodworker.

Bought this two years ago, use frequently. The LED lighting is what caught my eye. Had been using other laminate trimmer for years but the LED lights make a worthy difference plus this is big enough to use for 90% of all my routing needs, the plunge base helps with this. No regrets on this purchase.

A lot of nice features overall but was disappointed to find that the clear baseplate on the router was not round and did Not accept brass bushings that are often used to enhance quality of final product. Was also missing bag.

Previous compact router had a runout issue – a 1/8″ straight bit was creating a dado at .168″. Once I upgraded to the 611, the dado measured .126″ (the actual size of a 1/8″ bit).What really sold me on this router was the built in LED lights. They really help to see the lines for freehand inlay work. I have marked down my rating because on my router, the LED lights sometimes go out, but come back on a little bit later.
