The DWS716XPS 12 in. Double-Bevel Compound Miter Saw is powered by a 15 Amp motor that drives 3,800 RPM to deliver extended power and durability. Integrated CUTLINE LED work light system provides the 12 in. miter saw with an adjustment-free cut line indication for accuracy and visibility. This electric compound miter saw features a stainless steel miter detent plate with 14 positive stops. A cam miter lock system delivers repeatable accuracy and durability with easy adjustments. Tall sliding fences support 6-1/2 in. of base molding vertically and 6-5/8 in. of crown molding vertically nested. High-efficiency dust duct is concentrated at the point of cut for maximum collection. This dual-bevel miter saw has a lightweight design and built-in carry handle for portability. The DWS716XPS Double-Bevel Miter Saw Kit includes a 12 in. miter saw blade, blade wrench, dust bag, and material clamp.

I was excited to use my new 716 XPS. I had a DeWalt slider but my new work space would not accommodate the size of my old saw. Out of the box the setup was great and new dust guard seems to work well. Unfortunately, the dust guard is fairly brittle. I was cutting a piece of laminated wood and it splintered. A piece of the fractured wood hit the dust guard and broke it. Really disappointed that’s all it took to break it. Definitely not durable.

Nice tool, however the Cutline LED would be a better feature if it were a laser line. The light passing through the blade guard causes shadows that sometimes make the actual cut line marked on the material hard to see. This is my second Dewalt miter saw and over the last 15 years not much has changed! It is a good tool for people who are left handed as the handle and trigger are well placed for use with both hands.

The product performs well. The light that places the shadow of the blade on the cut piece is a MUST have , why it is NOT standard and why it is not carried in stores is crazy… you have to get the model ending with the XPZ or it just teases you that it is capable of having the light.Runs well, throws dust and shavings, catch bag could be much better.
