The DEWALT DWS779 slide compound miter saw is ideal for most cutting applications including crown molding up to 7-1/2 in. This miter saw is designed with a powerful 15 Amp, 3800 RPM motor that delivers extended power and durability. The exclusive back fence design cuts up to 2 x 14 dimensional lumbers at 90 degrees and 2×10 at 45 degrees.

- Tall sliding fences support crown molding up to 7-1/2 in. nested and base molding up to 6-3/4 in. vertically against the fence while easily sliding out of the way for bevel cuts

This saw is excellent. I had an old cheap miter saw that worked, but this Dewalt is so much quieter. It also functions smoothly, is easy to operate. I combined mine with the dewalt heavy duty stand. The combination of the two makes using the saw very convenient. One thing to note is that this saw does NOT include the shadow light.

Excellent product. I have found this smooth, well made, and easy to use. All the actions are well machined and move easily. The cuts are accurate and the blade was square to the base and the fences out of the box. The features are thoughtful and easy to use and it has worked flawlessly for the jobs I have needed it for. The extensions on the sides provide a small amount of additional support for longer pieces but for longer pieces I recommend getting the DeWalt miter saw stand. Depending on which model you purchase you can get up a significantly longer extension and the saw is extremely well supported during cutting operations. This is not an inexpensive saw but it will do the job and is well built for it.

Had to replace a craftsman miter saw that had seen a lot of use for over twenty years so my wife decided, for Christmas , to upgrade for me. I’m glad she did, this saw is incredible, it’s well made and has the feel of a quality tool. It’s a heavier saw then my old one so got a Dewalt folding stand with wheels for it to make moving it around easier. Now comes the work lol

Have a older model Dewalt Sliding compound Miter. Must be 20 years old use it several times a week cutting everything still works great. Decided I need a second one for another site. Expecting this one to be just as good. If you want XPS light kit on DWS779 you can by parts for way less than buying a DWS780 just Youtube “dewalt xps light kit for dws779”

recently purchased this saw (to handle crown molding in older home) based on other ratings. worked excellently! unlike most other reviewers i read about, i chose to perform each adjustment before use to familiarize myself with this unit. found all adjustments to be nearly spot on but did discover a couple of things to note. first, the manual itself is very difficult to read as the numeric identifiers are small and inside a dark gray shaded box and the pictures suffer from the same type of problem. secondly, changing over the supplied blade to a finish blade seemed a bit more difficult than expected due to tight gap opening with protective guard (certainly not a game changer). third, several reviewers commented about damaging unit below the work plate: i strongly suspect they did not flip the depth stop lever which prevents the blade from going that deep and might have actually figured that out by doing the depth adjustment first, although – again- that lever is VERY difficult to see on the manual picture for reasons noted in first comment! Conclusion- great product, manual needs help.

Works great and does a lot more than my old 10” Milwaukee saw. It cuts square when set to 0 degrees and the 45 degrees angles are 45 degrees. I haven’t used the material clamp, but it could be handy for some things.
