Amazing shop vac, picks up everything! Dust, nails, screws, everything gets sucked up in this vacuum, and the paper bag makes cleanup easy and fast. Would be a 5* review, but the black hose marks up everything it touches so be careful. Also definitely buy the accessory kit.

I have had this unit for several mk t,has and it is a great shop addition. My only beef is the inability of Dewalt’s service department to recommend a good fitting to join my DW421 sander to the hose. I called 3 times nd finally they recommended calling our local distributor….DOH.

I’ve had this for 8 years plus. Use it everyday. A little noisy, but does a great job. Use it mostly with my palm Sanders and as a shopvac.

The DWV012 doesn’t have as high of suction as my 6.5 HP Rigid shop vac but I knew that before I got the unit. I replaced the DWV012 hose with a 2.5″ hose and used the connection to the vac from the DWV012. Simply unscrewed from the DWV012 hose and it slips nicely into the 2.5″ hose end with a hose clamp to hold it place. I then ordered a replacement for this fitting to put back on the DWV012 hose, where I’ll use that for palm sanders and other hand help tools with the 1.25″ hose. The 2.5″ hose fits into my miter saw, table saw, planer and band saw. The extra diameter hose does increase the draw significantly. The reason I got the DWV012 was because when using my Rigid shop vac, the filter became clogged only after a short time with the canister being at least 95% empty. The auto filter cleaning on the DWV012 is a great feature and the auto on/off tool outlet is a nice addition.I have no issues with the DWV012 black hose marking up anything. Must have been a bad batch of hoses or Dewalt changed vendors.I did buy the wand and accessories for the 1.25″ DWV012 hose but I might regret that since I’ll have better results with the 2.5″ hose but for the reduction in diameter at the vac.

Runs like a champ, works fantastic with my dewalt RO sander & miter saw. The hose is much longer than I expected. At first i thought it would get in the way, but it’s a feature i surprisingly appreciate.

Purchased this almost a year ago. Price was the main factor and job site convience. Needed a dust collector on site for the miter saw, sds hammer drills, router table etc. So far it works great, I always run it with a bag, and the filters last forever.Down side as other reievers have mentioned is the black marks from the hose. I always find my self throwing drop cloths under the saws on any finished floors just because of the marks.Pros-does a great job at dust collection, the price point was excellent compared to other brands, the filters do not cost a small fortune.Cons- the hose is stiff and leaves a lot of marks. The hose does not play nice with other brands for hook up to say grinders, router tables etc…All in all I am happy with the collector, needs some tweaks on the hose for attachments and a non marring version. Would still recommend this machine.

Oddly, this is not a shop vacuum. It is a dust extractor. You need to know that before you buy it. It is meant to connect to a tool that is producing dust (not clean your garage floor). For its intended purpose it works great. Dust collection is excellent, and it is quiet compared to my Ridgid 6.5 hp vac.The auto filter clean feature works like a charm to keep suction high. Plug your sander / biscuit joiner / router etc into the on-board outlet and turning on your tool will activate the vacuum. Variable speed is nice, and can make the vac even quieter if needed. Even at full tilt it is only 59-61 db at 3 feet away (Ridgid 6.5 hp measured 10-12 db higher). With the long hose, you can be even further away from the vac as you work. The only negative is the hose, and its weird couplings. They have a twist lock coupling that allows them to swivel… great in theory… but they are tough to turn and far too bulky for woodworking. The quick connect from the vac to the hose works fine, so I kept that. The hose itself is fine, and is a tough but fairly supple material. The hose is 1-1/4″ i.d., and is plenty long. The problem for me was the tool end of the hose which required a Dewalt universal connector (not included), and a Dewalt adapter (not included). So I ordered these two parts from Dewalt and I really disliked their bulk and length. So I removed these factory accessories, and replaced them with a #24 reverse thread adapter from Mr. Nozzle. That particular fitting fits right onto the hose, and attached directly to almost all my Dewalt tools. It is a flexible fitting that will accommodate any tool port close to 1-1/2″.So with that quick modification, this is a great dust extractor. The build quality is very good. The sturdy clamps that secure the power head to the canister are impressive.

The vacuum is quiet and meets all OSHA silica specs I’ve encountered. Great value compared to other vacuums with similar features.

The instructions weren’t easy to follow and the bag wasn’t easy to install. Other than that, the machine worked great. I’d recommend it. It does make me nervous when such an expensive item is left on my porch. Anyone could pick it up and walk off with it.

This is a great vacuum for use with a dry wall sander, I’m very please with it.

Only thing it needs is a storage space for the extra cleaning attachments and extensions

This does a great job as a dust extractor in my small shop … I’ve used it for my miter saw, oscillating sander, table saw, and other tools. The auto turn on/off feature is awesome. As many have noted, it’s not supposed to be a Shop Vac, even though it looks like it. We use it to vacuum up a lot of stuff in the garage and cars, and it does fine, but it really shine as a dust extractor.I like it … the connector is just ok, though, and it was a bit of a pain to figure out how to hook up all my different tools, not all of which are deWalt. All in all … great product, been working great for a year with no problems. I love DeWalt and am glad I’m in a position to start buying them again!

I have used this Dust Collector for about 6 months now – First off – this is a dust collector and not a shop vac ! I used this on a large drywall project – worked well at collecting the dust and then on my table saw and miter saw – worked well too.A nice feature is the auto on outlet – where you plug your tool into the dust collector and it will automatically turn on and off when you run your tool.My big pet peeves with this is that the hose really is bad – it leaves black marks everywhere! If you use this as a light shop vac – even to clean up the floor – the solid steel tubing clogs very easily! In closing – if you are buying this as a dust collector – it will do the job – If you expect this to be a shop vac – not so much!
