I got this brushcutter a few weeks back as I decided to finally take on the long overdue task of cleaning up the heavy growth around my house that my dog constantly runs into. I was dreading this task for months, but this brushcutter made quick work of all of the weeds, roots, and thorny bushes that had been all over the place. Not only that, but this tool was super easy to use, and with the attachment capabilities I’ll be able to use it for all kinds of future projects around the house. I highly recommend!

Our family has been happy with all Dewalt products for years. It is brand we trust. The gas-powered brush cutter meets our expectations as well. This is a powerful brush cutter, and I am so impressed. We live on a farm/acreage and needed to clean up thick brush that’s outgrown in our shelter belt of trees. Honestly, I avoided until this project until receiving the Dewalt brushcutter. The brush cutter made it so easy! The design is well thought out and everything is in close reach for easy use. It is easy to start and not too heavy for a woman to use (that is a bonus for me). The 2-cycle brush cutter was delivered well packaged and is easy to set up. It comes with everything you need to get started including clear instructions, adjustable strap, fuel, oil, etc. This is a product I highly recommend for anyone with overgrown bushes or weeds that are too tough for your traditional weed eater.

I recently bought this DeWalt brush cutter even though there were no reviews and though it is nowhere on the DeWalt website or anywhere else on the internet. (It must be a Home Depot exclusive.) It’s listed weight is 13.5 pounds, which I confirmed on my home scale once I received the unit. That’s a little over 3.5 pounds lighter than the listed weight of the comparable Ryobi gas-powered brush cutter, though the Ryobi was $40 lower in price when I bought this DeWalt unit. I opted for a gas-powered machine since this one was about the same weight as the battery-powered units and since I won’t have to worry about waiting on a battery to recharge if I have a large area of brush to tackle. This was also less expensive than most of the battery-powered brush cutters. I wanted to be sure I had plenty of power. Though the power of battery-operated units is getting better, I knew that this DeWalt brush cutter would likely have more than enough power for my purposes and wasn’t 100% sure that current battery powered units would. Assembly was fast and easy, and the instructions in the box were good. The included strap does not have any padding, and so I may purchase a different strap for that reason. But the strap that comes with it does otherwise seem like good quality thick nylon. Starting the brush cutter was easy and quick. The included blade works well for thick areas of grass and vines, and it will tackle some tiny saplings provided their thickness is no more than perhaps 1/4 inch or so. If it hits anything thicker than that, it tends to bounce off. The included blade works with a spinning scissor-like clipping action rather than a continuous spinning cut like a circular saw blade would. Accordingly, I may end up trying an aftermarket blade – one that is a carbide-tipped circular saw type blade – for areas that have thicker saplings (though I think doing so may void the warranty). I used it for about 15 minutes straight the first time, and I was not worn out since the unit is fairly light, especially for a gas-powered machine. If the strap is adjusted properly, you can bear most of the weight of the machine on your shoulder instead of with your arms, which helps with balancing the unit more easily and tires you out less quickly. The blade is a safe distance away from the user though not so far as to make it cumbersome. I did note that the blade continues to spin for a few seconds once you release the throttle, and so that could be a safety issue in some circumstances. I’m glad that it can accept attachments, which was also part of the reason I bought it, and I will likely buy a pole saw attachment in the near future. All in all I’m pleased with this brush cutter and would recommend it. I just wish it came with a padded strap, a blade that could cut thicker saplings, and a blade brake that would stop the blade from spinning as soon as you let go of the throttle.

This powerful, little brush cutter definitely cuts through brush! It worked really well on my backyard. I like the way it looks and I love the attachment capability. Only needing one tool, that can be utilized completely differently with different attachments, is such a great idea! The handle is very comfortable, and I love the extended reach this particular brush cutter provides. All-in-all, would recommend!

We got the DXGST227BC 27cc Brush cutter and wow does it ever work great. We had lots of over brush that a regular weed eater would not get and we cleared over half in a span of 2 hours. This machine is the bomb and i will continue to buy Dewalt products. I am sold i am amazed how well the Brush cutter works. Easy to use and not so heavy that a woman can hold it also, not meant for just men. @Dewalt

Not what I expected from DeWalt. Was difficult to start. Had to pull like 20 times to get started. Cuts okay, but maybe due to brush being wet. Don’t think it worked as well as heavy duty line trimmer.
