Note: Pay attention to your sanding disks.The 5″ sanding disks are sold right next to these, and they’ll function, but the edges stick out suboptimally.

The welded clamshell packaging requires a sharp knife or box cutter on three side to extract the contents and, when opened, cannot be used to store the miscellaneous pieces. The 50-grit discs included are the finest grit available in the Diablo 4.5-inch disc size; I would have purchased some finer grit discs had they been available. The 5/8-11 spindle on my Makita Sander Polisher (angle grinder) extends about 1/4 inch beyond the disc surface; a 5/8-11 nut between the rubber backing disc and the grinder is necessary to prevent the spindle from contacting the work surface. These things being noted, the conversion kit and discs work well otherwise.

Initially I had doubts how well this will work.But after trying it out, it works really well. If you need high speed sanding (for ex. for rust removal), this is a great tool.

I only gave it 4 stars because: The first one of these I bought did not have the adapter in the package. It was sealed from the factory and I had never bought one before, so did not realize the middle piece was missing. If Home Depot was more than 3 minutes away, I would have given it less stars. I had to return that one and get a replacement. I immediately noticed the adapter centered in the middle of the package. Got it home and it worked perfectly! It is a super cool piece of kit to have. It made the job of sanding our patio Vigas much easier. If you buy one, double check the package!

So, I bought this attachment to use on my 4 and 1/2 inch Dewalt Grinder in a big deck and deck rail renovation at one of my homes. I compared it with the 5 inch disc sander I bought too. This far outperformed the 4.2 Amp disc sander. I recommend using proper eye protection and gloves and a mask, because it is super powerful on the Dewalt Grinder.
