I bought this to go on my Ryobi 18V Grinder. I used it to repair and rebuilt some wood window frames that needed a LOT of help. The sanding disc installed in seconds and worked like a charm to help remove multiple layers of old paint. Left a nice even surface for the new paint when I finished it up with the 80 grit disc. I also used it recently to sharpen an old prybar that was getting a bit to blunt to dig out some old nails. Sharpened it up like it was brand new again. And it shows hardly any wear on it. It’s looking like it will last a long time with proper care and storage.

This product is aptly named it cuts like the Devil! Used it on AR500 and it out cut and out lasted any other flap disk I have ever used. In case you are not familiar with it, AR500 is abrasion resistant steel often used as armor plate or rock crusher chutes.

Yea it worked great, I was looking to remove synthetics to get to the cement finish underneath and it rocked out. Be careful it can get the better of you. So get a grip.I have added it to my tool list since I am in The cement trade. Stucco,stone synthetics.

Had to take all of the flaking deck paint off of an old redwood deck today after a light rain today. Had spent many hours using a high-pressure sprayer, a drill motor with wire brush, and a polycarbide abrasive wheel, but it was slow work. Saw that some people on line had success with an angle grinder and this flap disk, so I picked up a highly- rated Dewalt 11-amp angle grinder and this Diablo 40-grit flap disk. I was immediately very impressed at how fast the flap disk removed the paint with very little pressure; had to be careful to use a small angle on the grinder, a very light touch, and to sweep back and forth to avoid taking off too much of the old wood in any one place. Spent four hours at it, got all the paint off and the disk was still working effectively. I just wish I had started with this system. The Diablo flap disk seemed well made and held up. The hours of work I saved made this a very cost-effective purchase.

In all fairness to this product, I was hopeful it would do something, it makes no claim to be able to do… remove paint from masonry. I had been using flap discs costing half of this Diablo disc with less than satisfactory results. My thought was a better quailty disc may provide better results. Unfortunately…there was little difference between the two.While it did remove paint, as with the less expensive disc, it clogged-up quickly. Once clogged it stopped working. Am sharing this with the hope that anyone else who may be considering using this for removing paint from masonry will save their money.Diamond grinding appears to be the only approach, but it creates so much dust and am working indoors. Chemical strippers were also considered, but are absorbed by the masonry and therefor are difficult to thoroughly neutralize.Bottom line… don’t expect this flap disc to be the solution for removing paint from masonry.
