I purchased this blade set today when I found that my Craftsman Excalibur adjustable dado blade would not fit on the arbor of my newer Delta 10″ portable table saw. After setting up the blade to cut 3/4″ dados I can report that the blade does an excellent job. I made trial cuts in 3/4″ pine and the fit is perfect. My only negative comment is that the instructions that explain how to “stack” the blades, chippers, and spacers, are printed on the back of the paper sheet that comes on top of the blades. The printed instructions are in very small type and include no illustrations whatsoever, only text. I would have expected better instructions for a blade that costs $100. I would not be surprised if some purchasers might discard the paper sheet without realizing that the instructions are printed on the back side.

I wish I had this before my last project. End blades have left or right angled tips followed by flat topped tips. Ensure you install them in the correct side of the stack. The 3 chippers are all flat topped tips. This set gives a perfectly flat bottomed dado. The only part that would require any touch up work would be where you install shims, but that is minimal. I cut test dados in plywood (with grain, cross grain, and rabbit edge), MDF, and hardwood. All dado edges were clean without chip out in all materials. Some tests were done with a support sled and others were with the wood directly on the saw table – I couldn’t see any difference. A backer board should be used on the trailing edge to prevent chip out – common. There are many shims and spacers included in the set. A chart is provided to tell you what combinations are required to get the width you want. A test cut probably still should be used to ensure a perfect fit.

Dado blades stack effortlessly, they cut extremely clean and like the convient storage case.

Had to return the item as it is not recommended for use on a Sawstop table saw

Bought this at a “big box” store to use for a number of projects. I’ve used it over the past 3 months about 20-25 times unless you count the number of times I’ve had to “adjust my cuts” because of the limited instructions or tiny print. If you count those then it is closer to 100. I like the blade and it works great but better instructions and a larger set up guide would have garnered a 5 star.I will share what I finally did which made using this easier. I took a scrap board and made it into a “demo board” with the majority of the cuts I use frequently cut into the board and then labeled with which cutters and shims I used to achieve those cuts. I can then use that board to confirm the fit on the piece I will be mating to it. Think of it as a story board for the dado set. Works well for me and makes for a much faster setup. Once you get the correct setup this dado set works really well with clean cuts and a pretty good bottom cut. It’s not perfect but for the price it is better than expected.
