This product is light years ahead of the old style that used set screws to hold the bit. I needed to drill holes through framing that was 6 inches thick. This allowed me to start the hole with the spade bit and add the extension after drilling part way. Quick and easy insertion and release of the bit. Held bit securely without any wobble.
