The Diablo 2” high-speed drill bit worked without any problems. It did not need a pilot holes and cut perfect circles in the bottoms of 4 wine barrels without difficulty. If you need to cut holes in solid wood, I recommend this drill bit.

i use forstner bits in m y3/8 shaft milwaukee drill to cut holes in the back of large live edge mantles to mount to the sub frame on the wall (floating shelf style). worked great on softer woods but the first time i used it on a large mesquite (which granted is extremely hard wood) it sheered the shaft in half about an 1/8th inch above the cutter head. home depot gave me my money back no problems there. would recommend on soft wood not hardwood

I wanted to install a length of 2″ pvc conduit to run several cables between the attic and basement. (I am a ham radio operator.) I was a little intimidated having to drill such a large hole through double 2 x 4’s.
