I dont usually do product reviews but I find myself relying more and more on customers just like me who use products to help me to determine if I should buy. So this is my way of giving back. Now onto the review: This is a great product. Out of the box, I was up and running in about 10 minutes. The 4×6 photos are great quality indistinguishable from a lab. Prints are fast- very fast 8 seconds flat. Just taking into consideration the price of the media (paper and film) the price per print is is roughly 14 cents for 4x6s and 39 cents for 5x7s. This printer is a monster. It is a Jack and the Beanstalk giant running leap ahead of consumer versions. I like this over HITI and the Mitsubishi. The only thing I would say to take into consideration before buying this printer to run a business or such, make sure that you will never need the 8×10 print. Why? Look at the DNP DS80. it is the 8×10, 8×12 version. For 88 cents per print- it may still fit the bill. If you purchase 8×12 paper, you can print 2 4x6s on one page and then cut them. This will increase your price to 44 cents 4×6, but you also gain the capability the larger 8×10 picture. (Just something to think about.) I will also be purchase the DS80 to cover most on location needs from 4x6s to 8x10s. The only thing that you may consider as a negative is the size and weight. It is a heavy unit – it weighs 30 pounds and you must hook up a laptop to work. But it is built well with a metal shell. If you read all this, thanks. I hope it will help with your purchase.

I have had this DS620 printer for several years and I’m very satisfied. This paper/ribbon size also allows printing 3.5×5 and there won’t be any waste if printing in pairs.

I recently replaced my older Mitsubishi Dye Sub with the DS40 and couldn’t be happier. I wanted something smaller and lighter for traveling and even though it’s almost 30lbs, it’s light enough to keep it under 50lbs when packed in a sturdy pelican case. All the other reviews are right in saying that it’s an awesome printer. It’s super fast, creates quality prints and the colors are great. I’d also like to add that the paper doesn’t curl when the roll is getting to the end like my previous printer did. Some people have stated print driver issues with OS X Yosemite, but everything has worked great for me. My only issues is that it seems to have paper jams more often than I think it should. I suggest always having a pair of scissors on hand to repair the roll.

I have been waiting for a photo printer for on-site printing and this is it. A local photo vendor recently switched from a lab setup to a dry setup. This is the printer they are using for 4×6 and 5×7. That sold me. I have ran two rolls through it so far and this was the right choice for me. The paper and ribbon are easy to load. Print time is reasonable and it is compact. My recommendation if you transport this printer is get a padded case. I read some concerns about print drivers with MACs. The print driver from the website loaded into my Macbook Pro. I use iPhoto to do minor edits and I printed directly from iPhoto without a hitch.
