Love this printer! Easy to set up. I now have 3 printers: a DS80 dedicated to 8×10, a DS40 dedicated to 5×7, and a DS40 dedicated to 4×6. They are all stacked on top of each other – very small footprint. Cropped & blew up a cell phone photo, 4×6 looked great, tried the 5×7 and it was great, even the 8×10 looked great! Could not tell it was not taken with my DSLR. You will not regret purchasing!

I really do love this printer as the photos it produces are amazingly crisp, sharp and beautiful in color. The print speed for a 5×7 image is about nine seconds -awesome compared to other printers like the HiTi or even my discontinued workhorse and trusty Sony DR200! BUT!! if you are a Mac user as I am, this printer will do a great job printing from your MacBook or iMac but it will never give you a print count or how many prints are left on the roll. Although not a dealbreaker, it is an irksome issue, especially if you go from job to job, always having to guess how many prints are left on the roll or should I bring one or two or even three roles of media with me to cover the event. I spoke with Customer Service about this issue and they told me that while they support Windows, the software that tells you how many photos have been printed and what is left on a role is not supported in the Mac OS. Really? These guys can’t write a line of code that would tell a Mac user how many prints are left on the roll. Seems pretty insane to me. But as usual with most of these manufacturers that make the photo printers, to them it’s a Window world and the Macs are their stepchildren. How hard would it be to put a digital display on the front of the unit that tells me how much media is left, does the machine require service and what size prints do I want? The HiTi offers this as does my old Sony. It really can’t be that hard to incorporate this feature on any of the DS units. So other than that I still would buy this unit as it operates flawlessly and fast. And, if you are a Windows person you’ll have no issues whatsoever.

I have only had this printer for a couple of weeks and i have only used it in a test enviroment. However i will used it at a family Reunion for the 4th of July Holiday. I will use it very heavily on that weekend and i will have a better idea how it holds up in a real situation.

Best photo printer I have seen. Reliable, durable, fast, great colour, easy to load. Now have three of them!

The quality is good, but the price I feel is a bit expensive. I operate a photo booth and use this DNP 620A as my printer. I do get a lot out of the two rolls that come in the box. I do waste quite a bit of paper though but I think that is the printer and not so much the paper.

Using this printer for events-very easy to load and use right away. Printed great photos at the first event with no issues. No bad things to say about this printer yet=doing what its supposed to do.

We used the paper last weekend for formal high school prom portraits and were very satisfied. We transport our dye sub printer between sites and have not had any issues.

We print on location and from our studio on this paper. It is fast and great quality. Not quite as good as Epson paper with Epson ink, but better than any other in my opinion.

First to the bottom line-only 3 stars because of the known issues with the driver. Your MacBook will tell you the printer is off-line but the photos will print anyway-well usually. Sometimes you will have to reboot your software and reset all of the printer settings (paper size, etc) probably because of the same software glitch. Also probably related to the offline issue is that I have been unable to share this printer on my local network through my Mac. These are issues DNP is aware of but has not fixed. I don’t understand why DNP does not invest the time to make the driver work 100% on Mac’s latest OS. Also the driver’s color/brightness image adjustments are too coarse to be of any value. Unless you want to spend a lot of time building your own profile, I recommend using the DS40 ICC profile for proofing and letting the printer manage color. I use a calibrated external monitor and the match is very close doing it this way. I would rate USA live-customer-support as only fair. The printed materials (instructions, quick start, etc.) are not as clear as they could be. The customer support website had phone numbers that were not working. There is apparently only one person there who speaks Mac. I recently purchased this printer (11/15) and took it with me to a local fundraiser event. I printed off over 100 5×7 images for customers. Everyone was pleased with the quality of the photos. In this context (ie event photos, happy snaps)the quality is very good. These are not portfolio quality prints, but better than your average prints from the drugstore and many labs. There were no jams during the event and often I was printing out a package of 2-5×7’s plus a sheet of wallets. The printer is very fast compared with other dye-subs I have owned. As detailed above, I did need to reset everything two times when my computer would go into sleep mode between sessions. Preventing this by changing the sleep setting will prevent this from happening. Some general comments are that this is a heavy duty printer. It seems to be mechanically built very well. I have no issues with the way the paper and the ribbon load. The printer does weigh a lot and I would recommend the purchase of a carrying case. If you are taking this printer to events where you have any distance from your car, you will want to use a cart because of it’s weight. You will also need a decent quality table or stand to sit it on. One other note is that it is not quiet-You will definitely know it is printing. Just one final note is that I have used this printer tethered with both Capture One and Lightroom. It works equally with both. However I found it easier to create templates with Capture One and easier to create print packages with Lightroom-but either software works with well the printer. I am happy with the quality of the printer and the quality of the prints. DNP just needs to be better at support, printed materials and to also fix the Mac driver software.

I think it will be grteat when I can get customer service from the manufacturer to help me with an issue at set up. B&H is great as usual!!
