   I used to love this product until… I own a golf course photography company and we take pictures of golfers on vacation and print 5×7 prints for memorabilia. I had within 2 years switched to these new printers from the ink jet ones (about 12 printers purchased over that time. This was a huge expense but the quality I could provide my customers was worth it. I was able to purchase 20-30 boxes at a time and get special pricing for this product for around $99.00. The price would slowly rise over time… It was then $120.00, then more and then more and now it’s about $225.00 per box. Not only has the price gone up, but there is no stock anywhere. I was forced to purchase at least two other printers to get buy as it was the only one with any stock. I now have 12 printers that I cannot use! And even when there is stock the price is $125 more than when I decided to switch over. Why is it that other 5×7 paper is less expensive but this one seems to just rise? So, because there is no stock, they get to start charging a ridiculous amount? I bought these printers to create and provide better product. I cannot charge more for my product or I will shut down due to no sales and I cannot make money based off of what the material cost is now. Thank you for caring about the small businesses that use this product as their base of their company! No stock = higher prices! Wish I could just print 4×6 but even that is hard to get, and those prints don’t fit on the 9×12 plaques that I sell. What a shame.

   This is an awesome printer. I liked it so much, I bought two more – one dedicated to 4×6’s, and another for 5×7’s. and the third (a DS80) for 8×10’s. The updated driver for the Mac (which works for OSX 10.8.5 Mountain Lion by the way) is a little finicky, and far too often results in incompatible paper size message, but other than that, the machines work perfectly. Beautiful colour out of the box, fast, sharp prints. Easy to load paper and dye sub film. Build is very robust.

    The printer is easy to work with and set up was pretty easy too. I have an older computer so I had to call to troubleshoot…they were so responsive and ready to help. The printer is fast but pretty noisy so you could never use it during a function while there is a speaker…otherwise it’s great.

    Use this printer for onsite sports photos. Love the speed and quality of printer. Negative side – Heavy and does not come with a carry case. Also had to call DNP to help with installation software. Came with 2 cd’s, but when connected to help desk I was told not to use. Had to go to site and download drivers. Even with initial issues, I would definitely purchase another one of these printers.

    The product isn’t photo lab quality, but awesome quality for instant prints. Much better than el-cheapo $100 printers. CAUTION: Don’t store the roll on it’s side for an extended period of time because the inside of the roll will turn oval on you and it’ll be a nightmare to jam the roller spindles into. Keep them stood on-end to save yourself a headache!

    This thing spits out prints at super speed! Perfect for event photography and photo booth applications. Even at 300dpi, the quality is great. The machine is attractive and the construction is solid. However, it’s very heavy (even heavier than the much larger DNP RX1 printer).
