Very happy with this printer, prints really fast. Had a paper jam and ribbon break that I caused by improper installation when I was changing out the roll after running out at an event but was able to was easily fix in under a minute with some cello tape and scissors (which you should always keep with the printer for emergencies.) Printer is very heavy duty and looks like it will last for a while.

Unlike another reviewer, my printer does not spit out paper each time it is turned on. Was super easy to set up & start using. Very small footprint. Also have 2 DS40 printers stacked on top of it. Was very impressed when I took an iPhone photo, cropped it, blew it up, & printed an 8×10 photo. Would not have known the photo was not from my DSLR. Loved it enough to also have a dedicated 5×7 printer & a dedicated 4×6 printer. You will not regret this purchase!

I use this printer for event photography. It is my 1st 8 X 10 printer. I have always liked the dye printers because the photos are durable and come out of the printer dry. I have used the Canon 4 X 6 printers and the DS80 is much faster. I was hesitant to pay so much for a printer but the speed and convenience of not having to change ink or load paper so often makes it all worth while. Also as I increase in the number of events and the number of prints the faster speed means more revenue.It is also a very well constructed printer that I hope will last. The only negative is the weight of the printer. It is heavy and has forced me to use a cart to move my equipment to the shoot site.

what can you say it’s a media kit that goes with the DS80. Has directions printed on both the ribbon to show how to load. Just make sure you get any sticky off the paper from the tab that keeps it from unrolling, because if you don’t it will get caught up and in printer and jam up. Great cost for the job it does…equals out to .88 cents per 8×10

Used the Olympus P400 and then Sony UP-DR80 before this dye sub printer. Generally, the colors are excellent and the glossy and matte options very convenient. However, the Sony had much richer blacks and black & white images had neutral grays, whereas the DNP-DS80 look toned and have a color cast. After printing hundreds of 8×10, we did run into 2 rolls that were defective and created color scratches mid-roll. We order this product annually and by the time we encountered the problem, we were told any warranty or return had expired. It’s a bit noisy, but the noise is not unpleasant.
