Colours are bright and crisp, better than the Sony UP-DR80 I was using before!

I have had this DS620 printer for several years and I’m very satisfied. This paper/ribbon size also allows printing 3.5×5 and there won’t be any waste if printing in pairs.

I use this printer for high volume on-site printing of event photos. I use multiple printers in a pool to increase throughput, and typically print 300-400 prints per hour. The DNP is replacing another brand for two reasons: Durability – the DNP is more solid and feels like it is more durable. Ease of maintenance – The DNP does not use cartridge ribbons, which allows for clearing if they get stuck. With cartridge style printers, if the ribbon jams you pretty much have to send it to a service center. The color rendition of the DNP is a pleasant surprise – spot on right out of the box.

The printer was easy to install on Win 8. The initial prints were horrible since we are accustomed to working with Epson inkjet printers. After a lot of tweaking and monitor adjustments, the prints are of professional quality. Excellent color depths however you do sacrifice whites due to paper emulsion not being as bright. Turn the printer on and it is ready within seconds. Prints come out in 30 seconds, cut and ready to deliver.

Printing pictures at home up to 8×12 in size. It is very easy to use and don’t have to worry about inks. The paper is high quality and satisfactory but not exotic. Driver is good but the icc profiles do not match a calibrated monitor. They are no where close. I am still trying to figure out how to match them, even with a colormunki photo calibration kit. Still having a difficult time matching the colors but the prints themselves look wonderful. Many people use this printers as event printers for high volume printing but I am using mine for ocassional use at home. I not a professional and photography is my hobby. Printing makes it very real instead of just looking at the image on the screen. With this printer, I can print much as I want and the prints are low cost. Did I mention there is no ink to worry about! It does both matte and glossy on the same paper.

Photo quality every time. Easy to use. I love my DNP printers and paper. Just remember that you must use the 5″ printer spacer kit with these print rolls. It sells here on B&H for about $10.

The pictures I did came out fine. Dye sub is so superior to inkjet and laser in my opinion. I was terribly disappointed when Kodak got out of this business leaving me with a useless printer costing over 4k which I could not get repaired anywhere. it only had about 100 prints on it. I also lost the use of a smaller Kodak machine I bought because of repair issues. I hope this DS 80 will hold up a lot better. I got the 3 year exchange included and I hope I never have to use it.

After much research and comparing high end Epson to the Dye-Sub printers I purchased both the DS40 & DS80 for a studio. These have exceeded my expectations in both speed and quality of the photographs. The printers themselves are HEAVY, seem to be designed for many years of use; the outside is metal, compact design, and stackable. The paper has a heavy weight and feels good in your hands. The paper is so robust that my roller paper cutter doesn’t cut it. We have to resort to a shear cutter. We have gotten around the single sheet size by printing other size combinations on an 8×10, for example – 8 wallets.
