The Dremel 106 1/16 in. Small Engraving Cutter is a quality cutter for detail engraving, carving and routing in wood, fiberglass, plastic and soft metals. Not for use with hardened materials. Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals. Use the sides of the cutter (rather than the tip) for effective cutting. The tip cuts poorly and can break under pressure.
- Secure objects to a stable surface while working
- For best results, insert the accessory bit all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down, this provides plenty of shank for the collect or chuck to hold onto the bit
- Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals and very slow speeds for plastics (to avoid melting at the point of contact)
- Includes: 2 bits

I was able to get into the corners much easier with this small powerful little head. I am sanding paint off of chairs and this is my detailing tool to finish off the job!

I use this bit a lot, especially engraving shapes of animals, bird legs, claws and wings. Give the engraving, carving that extra touch

Tip stay sharp for a respectable time when engraving hardwood. Tip stays fairly cool if you raise it every half minute or so.

Used for etching bone mah jong tiles. Good results! Just purchased fir this purpose, but great fir the innovative customizations and refurbishing projects! Cost seems high for this little bit of a thing, but it is a specialized piece of kit….

easy to use, you just need a steady hand and don’t use too quick a speed. works great.

I have used these in my CNC router to carve designs into lexan. I can typically get 8 hours+ of carving (that is actual carving/cutting time) before needing to replace. This was with a spindle speed of approx 1500RPM and a travel speed (cutting) of between 10-15 inches per second (cutting depth = 0.050″ per pass). I plan to try different settings (depth, travel speed, spindle speed) to extend product life – but I’m happy with being able to get almost 10 projects finished on one bit. I also plan to try different materials (wood, other plastics) to see how this fares. Have bought additional units; would recommend.

This drill did everything I needed it to do. Very easy to work with, yet small enough, for detailed work. A must have, if your working with wood. Can’t beat the price.

This bit worked great for me on aluminum, steel, acrylic, plastic, and hardwood. I used the Milwaukee M12 rotary tool.

First, I love Dremel’s – they make great rotary tools, and their accessories (like this small Ball Nose Burr) are also good quality – especially when considering the low cost. Are their better rotary burrs, and cutters out there – sure, but Dremel burrs and cutters will definitely get the job done.
