Great little tool for small projects. I’ve seen a lot of people comparing this to a full size router and that’s absurd. But it’s great for little details and because of its small size you can deploy the set-up pretty quick

It is hard to access (depress) the shaft locking button with the router adapter in place. You will need to remove the router adapter to easily access the button. The router adapter depth setting adjustment is not accurate and tends to flex so as you do the plunge so you cannot do real accurate depth cuts. It is a useful adapter for general depth cuts but I reverted to my trim router to remove existing veneer to then replace it with a new piece of veneer due to the inaccuracy in setting and maintaining the depth of cut. It is somewhat difficult to see the cutting action of the bit even with the clear plastic base. It is recommended that you purchase the accessory light which has an adaptive notch in the router adapter cross frame member.

I purchase this a couple months ago hoping to save money by not have to buy a router tool…so glad I did, it works great for my crafting projects. Wouldn’t recommend for large scale projects though.

I have had this for about two months, and I absolutely love how easy it is to do small intricate inlay work with it. I make cutting boards and signs with epoxy inlays, and this is so much easier to use than a full sized plunge router for fine lines.

I absolutely LOVE this product!!! This really is an asset for any craftsman!! This attachment is so versatile, and very essential if you do any type of wood crafting. It cuts circles, and arcs with precision. You can use templates, and cut out inlay designs, as well as letters precisely into wood. With guide bushings you are able to get really precise work. You can also freehand with this router, and make any design with your skill. I LOVE the 3/8″ router bit, and the 1/8″ router bits to use with this attachment. They work perfectly. Also the edge quide is very helpful to use. I felt the knobs on each side were very stable, and allowed me to use this attachment router with control!!! I just LOVE it!!! I was looking for something like this for along time, and I am so happy that Dremel made this, because I can use it with not just the Dremel 3000, but with other series in their line-up such as series; 4000, 8200, and 8220!

Have used it twice for sign making on wood and have been able to carve using smaller router bits for more detail carving. Easy to handle and control my Dremel.

I would like to first thank, Ellaina Gorske and Dremel, for sending me this attachment to replace their shaper/router table and drum sander. This plunge router attachment performed very well in place of the shaper table. All aspects exceeded my original expectations.Out of the box: Appearances are good. Materials up to par for general use applications. There is a removable and marked plunge ruler various ways to mark your depth and a twist of the knob (right) will lock in your plunge. There is an adjustment (left) knob to set your depth. Just twist bottom knob loosen handle (right guide+ lock). There is also a release button on the outside of it to go deeper “on the fly”. The best part was the fence is slide adjustment on both sides. (On the shaper table, this was awkward with 3 set holes on the right side). Last is the included circle guide to set it to cut as a radius.Performance: This performed excellent. After locking down all that needed to be, the (Dremel 4000) became a plunge router. Easy to set up, measure and run. I am honored to be able to report this to all whome are considering this attachment. I am also very grateful for the opportunity to try this product in place if a poor experience with another product. I am very happy that this was able to perform and replace the applications of the shaper table. I am also very pleased to mention that Dremel/Bosch stands behind their products. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that needs a router for light or home use. You can use your rotary tool as a plunge router without the expense of a router.

This is a great tool addition to the Dremel, assuming you acquire the proper 1/8” shank router bits. After a short amount of practice, I was grooving oak with 1/16” channels…very accurately. And there’s nothing even close in terms of price.

Works exactly like you would expect, takes a little work to get it set up and some practice to get comfortable with how everything works together. Circle and edge guide are easy to install, easy to follow instructions. After a few cuts I’m sure I’ll be a pro, but definitely practice on scrap wood before moving on to a serious project.
