I’m a new crafter and bought this to help sharpen/stabilize my routing for various designs I make in wood. (I was using the plunge cutting guide the Dremel 4000 came with.) This not only allows me to keep the drill level as I’m working, but I can see EVERYTHING because the base is clear acrylic. I only have a problem with the part of the base that you screw the drill into. It’s plastic and immediately started stripping as I tightened it. Other than that, this has saved me a boatload of time and effort!

Allows the dremel to work as a handheld router.

I built a small 1×4 standing shelf to go above my stove. I used my dremel to create an edge that made finished look, not just the straight edges and bland. I really do like the way it turned out the only con as to why I gave it 4 stars is because it’s not as clean of a cut and I had to go over it a few times to smooth it out. This is worth the money for a routing project for beginners. Where those safety glasses…

I use it at work and at home, it seems to be what it was designed for and well a little more. I look forward to seeing more attachments in the future. Best tool on earth. Thanks Dremel

I use it to do cut outs for door hinges, latch plates and striker plates. The router bits are a bit expense and don’t seem to last long but otherwise love it. Wish somebody would make some generic bits.

Exactly what I needed to cut grooves into hardwood to make shelf brackets for a glass shelf.

Well worth it for the price.

It is hard to access (depress) the shaft locking button with the router adapter in place. You will need to remove the router adapter to easily access the button. The router adapter depth setting adjustment is not accurate and tends to flex so as you do the plunge so you cannot do real accurate depth cuts. It is a useful adapter for general depth cuts but I reverted to my trim router to remove existing veneer to then replace it with a new piece of veneer due to the inaccuracy in setting and maintaining the depth of cut. It is somewhat difficult to see the cutting action of the bit even with the clear plastic base. It is recommended that you purchase the accessory light which has an adaptive notch in the router adapter cross frame member.

This this router base. There was a small learning curve, but once that’s out of the way, it is awesome.

Worked fine for the little job I needed it for.Note: Not for full size routing jobs. It’s made for small decorative detail routing like making plaques and picture frames and such the bits are quite small compared to normal routers.

Easy to follow direction on putting together. Works very well as a guide for your projects. Without the Plunger Router Attachment my project wouldn’t be very straight.

The tool is everything as advertised but why doesn’t the local store have a source of Dremel router bits? In fact, any accessories are almost nil. Maybe you should work on that.
