First thing’s first…the Dremel 4000 is not my first Dremel. This was actually purchased as a replacement for a much older, cheaper, and not-as-feature-laden model. The only options “old” model had was off/low/high. And, truth-be-told, I rarely used it. After having owned it for several years, even though it had rarely been used, and I knew I needed to ‘upgrade’…and, upgrade I did – to the 4000-series. Not only did it come with a great many attachments (not to mention a considerably larger case), most of which I’ve used, but, more importantly, it had much finer speed control (which is a major reason why I selected it).Move forward 18 months, and I now wonder why I ever bought the “cheap” model. With its limited speed control, it’s no wonder I rarely used it. Since purchasing the 4000, I’ve used it on countless projects (most of which have been RC-related). I’ve even added the Drill Press Rotary Tool WorkStation (220-01), which has also been used at least a few times. For those who’ve previously owned/used Dremel rotary tools, you already know exactly what I’m speaking of. For those who are considering getting your first Dremel…and, especially, to those who are “on the fence” about whether, or not, they truly “need” such a tool, let me just say this – while you might wonder if it’s worth it, I GUARANTEE you WILL find uses for it…and, the more you use it, the more you WILL discover new uses for it.For drilling holes in walls, and other things of similar nature, you’ll still use your old power drill. For installing/replacing wall outlets, for disassembling/reassembling your computer, and for tightening the knobs on your dresser drawers, you’ll still use your screwdrivers. But, for almost everything else, you can…and will…find that a Dremel is your “best friend”. I’m not going to try and claim you can use it for “everything”…but, it comes pretty darn close.

I love this one .. I have about 7 Dremels – I keep this one in my office – where – I work on my projects once out of the shop (garage). I use it to trim corks on fishing rods – smooth and sand all my scroll saw projects and help out with household chores. I think I would be lost if I didn’t have any of my dremels !

This is my 3rd rotary product from dremel. I have used them to grind, sand and cut. There are so many different attachments for these units. I have used them on metal, wood and plastic. You can find tools, to do about any job requiring a rotary tool, to fit this outfit. I also like the idea of being able to control the speed of rotation, to match the job being done.

I am a hobby woodworker. This tool has power to spare. I have been using it for about 2 years. I originally bought it to use mostly for sanding. Since I have used it for routing on many projects. It is so much easier to use than a regular router. I have done several hinge insets with this. Soooo much easier than dragging out the big router!! Highly recommend this upper end model!

Got this to replace my 20 year old dremel that died. The term they don’t make em like they used to took on a new meaning . This tool is a marked improvement in every way. Now I’m going to get a few of these new attachments and really expand the usability of the tool

A whole lot of extras went into this Dremel. It has a variable speed motor, a quick wrench manufactured that is always on the tool so no needing to find another wrench to switch cutting tools. Received this for Christmas and in less than one week has saved me tons of hours with handyman projects, crafts, and sharpening old knives.

I bought this 4000 for a very specific task in mind. I am redoing all my trim work in the house. I needed a tool that could cut and sand some real oddball angles that the builder left in my older home. It worked like a charm, I was able to make small precision cuts and fit them to the angles and unlevel surfaces. The speed adjustment made it easy to cut and sand small changes to get the perfect fit.

I have a number of Dremel tools, with the 4000 being the go to tool when I want to get the project done quickly with the professional finish. There so many bits and accessories that can be used with this tool. I also, use my cordless Dremel, in concert with the 4000, they work together,. I check out my hardware store for new additions to Dremel, and add to my collection with useful tools.

My wife bought this for a Christmas gift several years ago to replace my original one speed Dremel tool that I have had since the Stone Age. I loved my old one but this one is great with its variable speed. Great quality and great little tool. And my son has my old one and it is still going strong.

I own a restoration business and our Dremels get used daily. And used hard. The last one we had lived for over 6 years and I love this model. It’s bigger but not cumbersome at all. Love all Dremel products that we use.

Received as a gift and I love it. I use it mostly to sharpen my chain saws. You’ll need the chain saw sharpening accessory but it works better than a file!

Bought this from one of the big box stores, and knew I was buying a great product. I had an old rotary tool which was an off brand, but this is so much better! The 4000 had so much more power, is quieter, and is so much more versatile. Thanks for making such a great product, Dremel!!

I had never used a Dremel tool and was always skeptical that it would be useful. I needed to do some carving for a client and had never carved before. I purchased the 4000 and was pleasantly surprised at how easy and effective it was to use.
