A shank with a screw-like head. Used primarily with Dremel polishing bits and accessories. For best results, insert the mandrel all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down. This provides plenty of shank for the collect or chuck to hold onto. Simply remove the screw, line up a cut-off wheel or sanding band over the hole in the shank and replace and tighten the screw.
- Shank with screw like head
- Use with discs and wheels
- Plenty of shank for the collet or chuck to hold onto
- Mandrel to be used with all cutting wheels, sanding discs and polishing wheels
- Compact depth guide: round front that can be used for tracing a pattern or following an edge
- Compact depth guide: compatible with the vacuum attachment to keep your work place clean
- Shank diameter 1/8 in., 3 mm, 2 mm
- Insert the small screw through the hole in the cut-off wheel then tighten the screw into the mandrel’s threaded head

I read a lot of the other poor reviews but figured it was so cheap I had nothing to lose. Picked one up and used the tip of putting it in the tool and locking it in place before removing the screw. Worked find. Used it all day.

I absolutely love my Dremel tools. I don’t think I can live without them!! The mandrels like these with the tiny screws are kind of a pain to work with. This would be the only thing I would like to see made less cumbersome.

The product’s simple design makes it very easy to use, adaptable for different disc sizes and compatible with all other Dremel producst/extensions. You can never have too many in your tool kit especially at that price; I just simply leave different discs on each post for even quicker access. They store conveniently in the Dremel carring case.

I’ve cut plastic, metal and shaped & trimmed small wood projects with a Dremel for decades.I’ve never had the slot in the screw head strip, other reviewers might be using the wrong size screwdriver and/or not holding the screwdriver steady?

I have used this mandrel on my speed saw with cut-off wheels several times over the past few years and it hasn’t failed me. The cut-off wheels tend to break but the mandrel bolt holds tight. I just purchased another one because I finally lost the holding bolt (it is so tiny). I was worried about the problem other reviewers recently mention where the bolt was so tight that it strips when trying to remove it from the mandrel. I did not have this problem with the new one I purchased, nor did I have this issue when I first purchased one years ago. I use a very small flathead to remove/adjust thebolt…easy removal, no stripping and not even the slightest damage to the slot. I took a star off because their newer ‘EZ lock’ mandrel seems like a much more efficient design. I didn’t buy that one because it was not worth 3 times the cost for the number of times I use it.

I’m not an avid tool user, but I do use my dremel for small projects (like adding a bevel to my drawing board to prevent artwork from slipping off). I actually had no issue with the mandrill. I found it works best if you screw it into the dremel, then hold the ferrule for grip/support, and use a short screwdriver to remove the screw. I do agree with another reviewer though, in that there should be mandrill screws sold separately, since the mandrill is way stronger than the screw itself, so having to replace the entire piece is kind of a waste.

Same as original that I lost.

They do what they are supposed too but Ive always wanted a couple washers on it because sometimes the cutting wheel breaks off right there

Dremel’s 1 1/2 inch Mandrel is the basic Rotary Tool Mandrel for attachments since I first bought my first Dremel 28 years ago, it has the widest selection of Attachments that Dremel makes which will work with it. As Dremel has progressed with its line of Rotary Tools their capabilities of their attachment designs are better supported by Its EZ Lock Mandrel and attachments made to fit securely into it. If you review Home Depot site or the Dremel catalog the attachments which are listed will allow you to accomplish every task the Dremel line of Rotary Tools will allow.

This tool is great for mounting cut-off disk or small grinding disk, which I have used greatly. It comes in handy for many uses!
