It is impossible to change a tool with the 4200 in the drill press accessory. There doesn’t seem to be a Chuck attachment that would make it easier to change tools while the 4200 is installed in the drill press accessory

I own other Dremel tools and have been happy with their quality and performance. This tool is easy to operate and appears to be of good quality. My main reason for choosing this particular model was for the quick change chuck. I used it to cut some bolts, after removing the bit a noticed obvious burn marks from slippage on the shaft. Not sure if happens only on the cutting tools or if it will happen on all bits. If the slippage continues I may have to see if their is something Dremel recomends.

I brought this Dremel to replace the one I’ve been using for 5 years. I’m a gunsmith and use this tool everyday for one or more projects and it is doing everything my old model 400 did but better. I love the quick change feature. And this set came with all the good attachments.

The attachments are easy to put on. Can’t wait to use it more.

I would not recommend this dremel for doing heavy work or for contractors in general. Stick with the 4000 instead with it’s time proven design. The 4200 does not hang on to bits as tightly as a 4000 can. I also feel the 4200 can not handle a lot of side load like the 4000 without getting too hot. I bought the 4200 and had some issues with it, however the customer service here is amazing when they found out they sent me a replacement 4000 unit and I can not be happier about the performance of it over the previous model. I hope you find this review helpful.

I bought a Dremel 18 years ago still works. Use it in my wood shop, use it for cleaning silver, loaned it to plumbers working in my house, Use it for a lot of things. Bought another to have on hand, have not touched it.

I purchased this tool about 5 weeks ago. I mostly use I for cutting PETG plastic material. The 4200 model appears to work good for cutting the plastic. When compared with the4000 model, the 4200 has more torque and seems to run cooler for a longer period of time.I’m not sure about the new quick release chuck, only time will tell if that was a good idea.

This tool worked well but the motor burned up during normal use after 15 months. One-year warranty is expired. So I’m out of luck. I understand that the quick-change chuck might contribute to this problem. Perhaps I’ll go for an earlier, sturdier model such as the Model 3000.

I actually bought one that seemed to have a bad switch, but Home Depot swapped it out for me and so far all is good with the new one. It’s a great Dremmel and I’ve been using it pretty much about every week since I bought it.

I use the dremel frequently. Just spend the extra few bucks and get this model, the tool less swapping of bits works flawlessly and save a ton of time and hassle. Great product would buy another if I needed in a heartbeat

I recently purchased a 4200-4/36 after my Dremel 3000-series tool finally started to break down after more than 12 years of heavy use in my architectural metal fitting fabrication shop. I chose the 4000 Series Dremel this time because I wanted more features including more power, the load-sensing automatic rpm stability and the quick connect wrench-free collet system. As a good deal of my work involves a need to get into small, difficult to access spaces I also wanted a good motor to power Dremel’s flex-shaft tool*.I greatly enjoy working with this new tool, and have had no troubles with it at all. Were I to offer any suggestion for improvement I would only ask the the rpm selector and on/off switch had a higher contrast to the color of the tool body itself. I sometimes have to work in poorly lit areas, and seeing the mentioned switches can be difficult.* On a different note I have to commend Dremel for the versatility offered via the use of the 225-01 Flex Shaft attachment (sold separately). This tool has the power and RPM speed control of the 4200-series power unit, and due to the small size of the Flex Shaft head one can easily get the tool into very cramped quarters. While the Flex Shaft has a wrench-type collet nut system it also has a knurled wheel on the chuck. I find that hand pressure is sufficient to tighten the chuck using the wheel, and even when doing hard grinding tasks the hand pressure is sufficient to keep the grinding wheel from coming loose.

Love the 4200 but having trouble finding the special collets needed to use a tool with other than a 1/8″ shank. may I sugest that you include all the collet sizes with the 4200. Thanks Paul.

I wrote a review at the beginning of May in regards to my 4200 and how the pinch collet had failed. The next day I was contacted by email and was offered a new 4200 or a similar model. I opted for the 4000 as I like the old school wrench version. In less than 10 days I recieved the brand new one and a bunch and I mean a bunch of goodies for the inconvenience. Now this company backs it’s products! Thanks very much!

I bought this for detail metal artwork and, contrary to most other reviews, I love it. The quick change is perfect for what I do. It’s easy and fast. I’ve been using it for 2 months now, almost every day, with no mechanical issues. If this keeps running, I’ll love it – but for right now – good in all regards!
