I got the 4200 as a gift for christmas in 2015. She worked great. I like the quick change. She ran a little hot so I had to power down to cool. This month while using her she sparked and die. Very upset but I will buy another. I am a refinisher of older classical furniture. Used her to make new parts and find detail.

I bought this tool the 4200 for a Christmas gift to myself and I have used it a dozen or so times mainly for polishing. today I picked it up and used it briefly then turned it off for a minute to re adjust and it wouldn’t come back on. I really enjoyed this neat tool until this happened.

I had an older Dremel single speed tool and had replaced it with variable speed product from a competitor. While using the other brand I would constantly have to adjust the speed because it would often bog down under medium loads. There is no substitute for genuine Dremel quality. I could not pass up the 4200 for features and ease of changing bits. It has performed admirably except for a couple of problems. First, there are some Dremel accessory bits that I would like to use but they just don’t fit. The quick change mechanism will not grip the smaller diameter shafts on some of their drill bits and you can not change the collet size like you are able to on the 4000. And speaking of changing bits, it is very cumbersome if you use the 4200 with Dremel’s drill press as you have to remove the tool in order to release the bit unless you modify the holder. Where as the 4000 can remain in the press for bit changes.I would recommend the 4200 to those that are looking for a versatile tool you can use for crafts, hobbies, and home repair projects where a small powerful drill type tool is called for.

This is my second 4200. I returned the first one to the retailer because it stopped working–probably because of the switch. With the second one, I have had to replace the springs several times. Obviously, I’ve used it a lot. The problem with replacing springs/magnets is that the access screw is plastic, and the screwdriver hole has been routed out. That’s not the big deal, however. As I was using my 4200, I noticed smoke, and when I turned it off, I discovered that the casing for the 4200 had warped/melted. Not good.

I use this in my jewelry making business, and it works GREAT!!! I use it for polishing gold, sterling silver, and cutting stones, etc. I have yet to find something I can’t do with it. I also love the attachments it came with. I have had various models of Dremel tools for years and this one, by far, is my favorite model!!! BUY IT!!

This amazing rotary tool provides the HP to e through, wood, metal, plastic, and concert like butter. It is definitely the easiest rotary tool available. Dremel provides many adapters and accessories to use that are compatible making any project a breeze A+++

This rotary tool has plenty of power with variable speed settings to do a lot of different jobs. I especially like the convenience of attaching and removing the accessories that comes with it. I bought it to assist in a sanding project and it has performed excellently. The quality can’t be beaten by any other brand that I have seen at the big box department stores, and I would say the value is worth every dollar considering the performance and quality built into this tool.

I’ve actually owned Dremel tools for about decades. The last one I’ve had for about 8 years. This past year I started using it a lot, and it finally wore out in the middle of a project. It was older, and would bog down if I exerted a little to much pressure on the cutting head. Then it finally up and quit. It was late, and I had to run to Home Depot to grab a new one quick before they closed.I looked a little bit and decided on this one. I was cutting stainless steel, and knew I was going to go through a few cutting wheels. Got home and started back up on the project. This thing doesn’t slow down, it doesn’t heat up, it chews through the stainless steel like nothing! I cut one piece a little too big. It was the width of the cutting wheel. This had no problem cutting that thin of a slice.I was sold on Dremel before, and now I’m really impressed! Got a few more projects to go, and this will be seeing me through them.

Have 300, 4200 & 7700 along with 3 ftom.othrr brands.Build quality is better with the dremel brand than the others. But im still having difficult time with them so im just frustrated with the whole rotory scene.

Great snap on feature. Highly recommended.

The way the bit is locked in doesn’t keep it true. Any pressure on the bit and it spins out of center. So the result for my .07 mm router bit is it slaps against the work then the bit breaks. The 4000 dremel is better for my work. It holds bits snug and true.

It’s a very handy tool. Treat it as a mini chainsaw, it can kickback. I used it to cut some backsplash and remove grout. My ONLY complaint was the tool seemed to ” bog down, not turn on as easily” when it became dusty.

I have been looking for a Dremel tool for some time and recently purchase the Dremel 4200-4/36 kit. I was surprised to read that it had a lawn mower blade sharpening kit. I have 3 mowers for a total of 9 blades and until now I would sharpen the blades on a bench grinder. But, out with the old and in with the new! The Dremel sharpening jig is the perfect way to get a nice sharp mower blade. I watched 1 or 2 videos on line and in 10 minutes I had perfectly sharpened blades with the correct bevel angle across the blade. I can’t wait to explore the rest of the tool’s possibilities. Versatile, functional and easy to use. I can’t believe I held on for so long to purchase one.

I only need to know if anyone knows the part number for new brushes? Also I need to somehow get another collet so I can use my flex tool…mine bent and is not useable. Thank you all and enjoy the 4200!!!

I bought my 4200 a month ago and was super excited until I realized the limited options I now had for attachments. Seems there are more attachments for the other sizes and is frustrating to find what I need. The power of the tool is great. I do put it through a lot of work and wish I could find the same variety in attachments as the other models.

I submitted a negative review on a 4200 Dremel tool that did not meet the guidelines for reviews. I immediately received an email response from Dremel offering to make things right. After submitting my information back to the representative of Dremel, the next day I received a new replacement tool, a return prepaid address to send my broken tool back to them.Very courteous correspondence, fast service and the willingness to take care of the customer.Dremel, I am extremely impressed.Thank you Dremel (Pat) for your super service.

Great tool for the hobbyist or casual user. The motor is fairly powerful and the variety of tools available make it very versatile. To date, I’ve tackled a number of jobs from cutting copper pipe and galvanized sheeting, to precision cuts in drywall and ceramic tile.A word of caution, however. The tool does have a maximum threshold as far as torque is concerned. While the motor is quite powerful the brushes are a bit sensitive. Too much force and they’re likely to jam, seizing up the motor. They’re a bit fragile but inexpensive to replace. Finding them for this particular model is, unfortunately, a bit difficult. I’ve had to order directly through Dremel.

A well made heavy duty tool… much ore substantial the the bottom of the line Dremel that I bought from Home Depot two years ago… which quit in the middle of s job …. and had really poor performance all along …
