For the dremel brand I was kind of disappointed by this. It only came with 1 cutting wheel, the case with the 41 pieces was a fair quality, but the items inside weren’t what I’ve come to expect from the dremel name. Sanding disks were flimsy the nozzle attachments were cheap plastic, I’d expect at least a light metal nozzle for sturdiness. Other than that it meet my needs and requirements. I’d suggest something smaller if you just need the dremel for occasional home projects, or the more expensive 4200 chest to relieve any headache that might arise straight out of the box.

Best dremel I’ve owned yet and that says alot since I’ve owned about all of them. Great power and versitility without the clunkiness of other tools. Love it!

Great grip, lite weight, and long enough cord to work around your project.

Second small Dremel I have owned as I burned out the motor on the last one after 13 years of use. I purchased this one for the quick release advertised feature. The unit has a power cord for which I am satisfied with as I do not need cordless for many of the projects I do. The cordless feature works but the bit will slide all the way in with pressure on tip. This will cause it to jam inside and you will be required to remove with pliers. Caution as the bit will be very hot and the quick release takes up the use of one of your hands. The variable speed system is very good and the weight and balance are excellent.

I wrote a poor review for the 4200 a few months ago. I was contacted and sent a new one. I have used it quite a bit and it has become my favorite of all the rotary tools. The ease in changing attachments can’t be beat. The range in the adjustable power has made it appropriate for every project I needed so far. Thanks!

I received this as a gift and after a year of solid use, I can confidently say that this is an excellent tool. I’ve used it for cutting metal and plastic, drilling ceramic, cutting/sanding wood as well as a few other operations, and the tool exceeded expectations in all cases. Working with a high speed/low torque tool is different from a low speed/high torque tool like a drill, and my experience with conventional carpentry made it hard to teach myself to *not* lean on the tool, but it’s a joy to use once you get used to it.The toolheads/accessories are diverse, and all of the ones I’ve tried have been good quality. The right-angle attachment has been especially useful for getting the tool into awkward places on big projects, it also makes the process feel a little more natural when cutting or grinding. The case has accommodations for the extras as well, which is a nice little bonus. As my first Dremel rotary tool, I can’t compare it to other models, but I had no problems that other reviewers have mentioned: the chuck grips the shanks fine, never saw overheating or any other catastrophic failure. Then again, I follow the manual closely: I performed the initial burn-in when received, am wary of the vents and tool balance during use, regularly check the brushes and observe the recommended speeds for each accessory. I might just be lucky, but it’s worth mentioning. My only complaint is that everything related to it seems a bit pricey, but I’ve never felt completely ripped off by it.
