Simplify your grout-extraction chores with this 1/16 in. Carbide Grout Removal Bit. When used in conjunction with the separately sold Dremel Grout Removal Attachment (model 568), it precisely pulverizes old grout behind the power of a rotary tool. When the grout bordering your wall or floor tile runs its course or becomes permanently soiled, let this heavy-duty carbide bit remove it with ease.
- A high speed cutter with a 1/8 in. steel shank
- Carbide-grit tip provides extra bite to blast through hardened grout
- Ideal for removing grout to replace broken, marred or worn tiles
- Not intended for use above 18,000 RPM
- For ease of operation, use with Dremel grout removal attachment (model 568)
- For best results, insert the accessory bit all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down

Didn’t use this for more than 30 minutes, so I had no problem with it breaking on me as some other have had. Important to approach the grout non aggressively with the bit, or it will break. It’s 1/16th after all.

I purchased this kit today and so far it’s been perfect, granted I don’t have a large area to do, but over all I would recommend this product.

Works well to remove grout.

You have to read and measure to make sure the correct amount of bit is below guide. If to much of the bit is below guide will cause bit to break. Proper insertion of bit and measure when guide is on will save the bit, and let the tool do the work don’t try to push tool to fast. If you move the tool to fast will cause the bit to break. Their not cheap so do keep that in mind!

Both the 1/16 and 1/8 grout bits worked wonderfully….first time I’ve used them for this project. Be sure to follow the instructions for speed and holding the main unit so as to avoid inadvertently covering the “breathing” gills and not allowing the unit proper ventilation. ALSO, I suggest in addition to proper wrap-around safety glasses, you put on a surgical mask to cover your noes and mouth. These grout removal bits generated a whole lot of dust like Talcum powder.

Worked as advertised, will wear out but very effective.

did a great job on removing the grout in tight spaces, but i kept breaking the tips off during the job. went through 4 to clean-out the grout in the shower corners and edges. for further grout cleanup/replacement on the floor, i’ll have to go to one of those vibrating saw things with a grout blade.

This bit was used to carve a line into mosaic glass tile to make it easier to break the glass to fit small spaces. The bit worked great!I tried a different procedure previously and wasted a lot of tiles. This time I had no waste.

broke pretty quickly, small job

Time saver to the Nth degree — apply pressure as needed to the grout line. Either clear it all out or just take off the first few layers. Didn’t warp or overheat with constant use. Got a little noisy and dusty (fault of the dremmel), but much better than using a manual grout scraper.

Dremel is the benchmark and the name looms in our familys lexicon.

Did the job in a ceramic tile shower

The grout removal accessory worked well for us and probably works even better on actual grout. We used it to clean out excess thinset after setting small sections of glass tile; it was the only tool that would budge the extra strong thinset. We wore down three of these carbide accessories in total before completing the job, but still consider the purchase(s) a bargain.

Cleared out the old grout in no time, Took a little longer where the installer was a little heavy handed and had it thickly packed in, but overall the bit worked great

Awesome

The bit fit perfectly between the tiles and we were able to take out the grout.

I used the bit to remove excess mortar after tiling between large format tiles with a narrow grout line. Chewed through the mortar like a champ. You just need to be slow with the bit, move too fast and it will break.

Does the job great with the Dremel. Wears down eventually but you get a lot done with one bit. No breaking bits for me. Did job well!

This grout removal bit was excellent. I had new tile put up in the kitchen as a backsplash and the bathroom counter. The guys that did a crappy job. It looked like they licked all the grout lines and it started cracking immediately. We all know what that meant. So, I purchased this bit for my dremel and it did a wonderful job. My only suggestion is to be careful if you hit a mortar spot because I did end up breaking one, trying to zoom through it. It can handle the mirror, but you just need to attack it slower. Other than that I definitely recommend it if you have a dremel tool.
