This is my 4th Dremel tool I used for my dogs. The first and this one were made for use on dog nails and the 2 middle ones were just plain Dremels. I’ll have to think about getting the extended warranty as I’m not sure they last more than 2 years. I try to do their nails weekly; down to 1 dog now. They work well. I make sure I don’t stay on one nail more than a few seconds because it generates heat. I move it around from nail to nail and back.

I bought this in January 2017 and still works perfectly, exactly like the day I bought it. The reviews gave me the impression the battery wouldn’t last long but it is still like new. I use it every two weeks on my 50 lb. dog. I had never used a nail grinder and my dog was incredibly fearful of having her nails handled. It’s been such a great find and a good solution after vet increased price for nail trimmings to $20. I’d always trimmed my other dogs nails with clippers in the past no problem but between her fear which had her snapping at me and her black nails, that wasn’t working. With the grinder I never trim too close. I can see the white dot inside her nail appear when I get close so it doesn’t matter that her nails are black. She wears a basket style muzzle (so her breathing is not inhibited like other style muzzles) because every once in a while she’ll get nervous and snap. Wearing the muzzle keeps us both calm and she is always happy to see the muzzle because to her it means treats! Initially it was hard to figure out a good position, I looked at YouTube videos for ideas and eventually found it’s easiest for me for her to lay on her side, switching sides as needed. Good luck.

I wish it was supplied with finer sandpaper. I used it on my own nails and it grinds too much to fast. I will not use it on my pets. Maybe with more practice I would be more skilled.

This is the perfect nail trimmer for my dog who is afraid of getting her nails trimmed. Over several weeks, I have shown my dog the tool, turned it on and let her listen to it and then several days later I started to use it on her. True, it has taken 2 weeks to get her nails trimmed BUT she will let me use the trimmer on her now. Each day I briefly used the trimmer on each nail. I am working up to using the trimmer longer each time. An even bigger bonus is that I am not afraid of trimming her nails too close, which has made her bleed in the past. This tool is a win for me and a win for my dog!

I am a proud pitbull owner. About s month sgo I was clipping my dogs nails with a traditional pet nail clipper and must’ve gotten too close to his quick.
