I purchased this unit because it was cordless. It had the extra battery so if the project exceeds the charge of one battery, I can slip in the spare and continue the project. I have sanded and ground toenails, drilled ceramics, cut wood and trimmed plastic parts. It has done everything I wanted. I used the shield and purchased the handle though I haven’t used that. I have a corded Dremel Tool purchased about 1965. It still works so now I can tackle any task around the house. The metal cut-off wheels are one of my most used accessories. I read a lot of reviews before my purchase and am happy with entire Dremel 8220 package. The instructions were very informative and clear and with the extra cutting, sanding and polishing pieces it makes a very complete package.

I have owned several different rotary tools in my lifetime. This is the best out of all of them. It is far quieter and has little to no play in the shaft. being cordless and variable make it a no brainer purchase. It comes with two batteries, many accessories and a case that actually holds it all.

I Bought this to replace an older Dremel, The new unit is larger and heaver but with a lot more power for the jobs I need to do. Has a better ergonomic grip(old and new are cordless).Batteries supplied with the unit seem to last a long time. Only drawback I can find is now I have 4 batteries and 2 chargers that are of no use.
