The only substance harder than tungsten carbide is diamond. Dremel Tungsten Carbide Carving Bits are ideal for shaping, smoothing or removing material from especially hard substances, like cast iron, nonferrous metals and hard woods. The 1/8 In. Tungsten Carbide Carving Bit can be used in virtually any Dremel rotary tool.
- Shapes, smooths or grinds especially hard materials including: hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, fired ceramics, plastics and hard woods
- High-speed bit made of tungsten carbide, the hardest material next to diamonds
- Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals and very slow speeds for plastics
- Use the sides of the bit (rather than the tip) for effective cutting

Very good tool. Just make sure you don’t overheat the cutter or your work piece. Make sure you wear safety glasses and proper clothing. This thing will shed a lot of metal.

I needed to bore a hole one inch in diameter in the housing of a fluorescent light fixture I was installing. After drilling a pilot hole, this bit did a great job cutting through the metal to give me the opening I needed to run my wires.

worked as well as all its predecessors – used to clean up small stainless steel welds (I’m a better grinder than welder)

Actually needed a larger diameter bit, but was out of stock. However, with some patience, the bit worked fine. Cutting 42 6″ circles in 15/32 plywood for recessed lighting in garage.

In my experience, this is a great bit for cutting metal. I used it to cut out a trailing arm bushing from my vehicle and it preformed great. I was certain it would be destroyed, but hardly looks worn.

perfect for helping out drilling broken bolts on a outboard motor

Chewed through the steel garage door rail quickly. Seemed exactly as sharp afterward. I believe this is genuine tungsten carbide. I had read some reviews on other sites from people who seemed to be getting generic, inferior products. This came sealed in Dremel packaging, but the real test was in the using it and it passed with flying colors. Glad I bought from Home Depot.

I am using this to enlarge some slots in steel plates. I have it installed in a standard drill and it cuts so quick and EZ. Sure beats trying to grind them out with a grinding stone .

I had a rusted 3/4 bolt stuck that I had broken an ez-out hardened bolt extractor off flush with the surface trying to remove it. Drill bits would break or couldn’t drill into the extractor. This bit on the dremel with some time cut through the hardened tool steel and remainder of the bolt. Amazed at how well it worked and help up to the hardened steel.

This cutter works great. I weld and then use these to reshape. They seem to last forever. I go through a few only because I loose them. Great tool.

Thsi cutter did what I wanted to do. It is better to run it at a slower speed to keep from burning and dulling the tool

It worked really well, the problem I had was that I had to cut out some fairly deep threads.

Did what I wanted it to do and very quickly Would recommend it to anyone
