Dremel has provided me with this product in exchange for an honest review.I read the advisory directions on how best to use this burr, and found them very accurate. I use carving burrs a lot and have a very large assortment of carving burrs that I use to carve figurines in a wide variety of hardwoods. Each burr I use is intended for a specific carving part. The 9901HP is designed to take about a 1/32” or less cut, allowing it to give the control you need for a smooth cut on you project. On outside surfaces I angled the burr in my variable speed grinder so it was at an angle of 90+ degrees to the surface I was carving. This worked well with my grinder speed set at 25000 RPM. Hardwoods are unique to the speed setting used on your grinder, so when I was cutting a waxy material like Ligniun, I not only set the tool at the angle of 90 deg +, dut I slowed the speed down to 15,000 RPM. Woods like walnut or oak I used the speed of 25,000 rpm with good results.The 9901HP has worked very well for me and I have used it for around 15 hours now. I shows no wear at this point and gives a very SMOOTH cut. A plus for my work. It will chatter if carving small internal surfaces, so be careful of your speed and control. Overall I am happy with the operation of this tool. Thank you.

After overcoming operator error, I love this cutter, used it to engrave a wooden plague, then graduated to engraving a tree of life for the wife. Turned out prefect.
