This miter trim cutting guide is made to work specifically with the dremel brand saw. The instructions are clear and simple. The guide works for multiple applications in finish carpentry projects. The material is sturdy and durable. The design is innovative, and covers many applications in cutting moldings. I don’t think that the product is going to work with power tools made by other manufacturers.Overall this product is well thought out.

This works very well. However, one does need to be very careful and precise to the instructions so you do not cut into the Guide. Easily done, as I did scuffing the upper part of the slot for the blade. The instructions tell you how to place and start the saw, and when and how to turn off the saw after the cut. If you follow that strictly you will be fine. So four stars for the extra care one needs to take especially when learning.

Have just practiced with it. Love the saw-max and this will give me other options to use it for more elaborate projects.

Product itself is quite good. Only problem is lack of instructions on how to use it to its fullest capabilities. Dremel should produce a video on how to use it beyond the little 2 minute miter cut only one they have now.

Makes cutting trim and base fast and easy.

Great a little difficult to use at first. Now I love it. I don’t need the big miter saw out.

Worked very well. The only issue that I had was cutting short pieces of wood (< 6"). I had to get created to safely hold them in position for the cuts.

One of the complaints I have had about the Dremel SAW – MAX was the ability to have good control when doing close accurate work. The saw – max MITER GUIDE is just the answer to making those precise and accurate cuts needed for pictures frames and molding. It takes a little practice but the results are well worth it. Now I make my own custom frames and it saves me lots of money in several ways. I am able to make excellent splices and therefore save on wood that would have other wise thrown away.

This worked great for cutting mitered cuts. The side opposite the cutting edge became a little “chewed up”, but does not interfere with the cutting edge. Does a nice job

This is essentially a carpenters/rafter/speed-square with a jig molded onto one side that holds the SawMax at a 45 degree angle for bevel cuts. It also has channels cut along its underside for precise placement on boards 5 1/2″ W or less The channels are only 7/16″ deep, which will accommodate most baseboards. You can still use it for straight or miter cuts on thicker boards, but not bevels. And that’s what this unit was specifically designed for: Baseboards. Anything else is beyond its intended use The other caveat– Bevel cuts require an extra 17 bucks or so for the optional SM600 Flush-Cut Wheel. Fair enough– There are other applications the wheel can be also used for, more than can be said for the Cutting Guide Itself. They could’ve just called it a Baseboard Cutting Guide to eliminate any confusion up front. If that’s your only intention for it, it would be good for at least 4 stars. Otherwise for the same price you can get an aluminum carpenters square for your straight and miter cuts and make your bevel cuts some other way.

This is so much better than the miter box. I did have a little trouble cutting into the plastic just because the Dremel saw max is so powerful. Over all I love it.

The miter trim cutting guide is sturdy and well built. So why only 3 stars? I thought it would also be usable for general miter and saw guide work but it is not. If you use a Dremel Saw Max exclusively for you trim and mitering then this is perfect. If, like me, you use a variety of saws, it is not versatile. For use with the Sam Max it is versatile but complicated. It also has limits in the boards/trim it will accept since they must fit in the trough under the guide. It will make a number of different cuts and the guide for those cuts, while complex, is thorough.

The Dremel Saw Max Miter Guide Model SM 840 is a very handy specialty tool that I would recommend for anyone that uses a Dremel power tool. My wife told me she ordered a miter guide for my saw. When it arrived I discovered it was for a Dremel tool, which SHE has and I have to get permission to use. (how clever of her.lol). All joking aside we really like it! It allows you to get bevel cuts and cuts of 45 degrees,22.5 or 30 degrees, etc. When dealing with molding and you don’t want to walk outside or downstairs to your larger saw for one cut or a small adjustment, this tool is great to use with your nice smaller Dremel. It is easy to use, just read the instructions and spend time familiarizing yourself with the tool.
