Drill America DWDCO Cobalt Reduced Shank Drill Bit. DWDCO cobalt drill bits are made of heat resistant m35 cobalt. They are ground to a heavy-duty 135° split point. They are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys.
- Sizes included are 9/16 in., 5/8 in., 3/4 in., 7/8 in. and 1 in. with 1/2 in. reduced shanks
- Effective in drilling tough, high tensile strength materials like stainless steel, Inconel and titanium
- Display high red hardness, permitting speeds up to 30% greater than with conventional M2 high speed steel
- Manufactured to National Aerospace standard 907
- 135° split point is self-centering and reduces thrust
- All drills have 3 in. flute length and 6 in. overall length for minimal adjustment during tool changes
- Expand the size range capacity of a portable drill chuck

High quality and convenient. These fit in my 1/4″ and 3/8″ drills and my battery powered drill which is a real plus for me because that’s my primary method for drilling metals. I have used these on the inside of brass valves to gut out the valve so I can get small on-off switches into the valve and have used them on galvanized and black iron pipe. They cut quickly and cleanly and have held up to the abuse I have subjected them to and I’ve been impressed.

I do a lot of metal fabrication for my hobby and this drill bit set works quite well on drilling larger holes that are outside my normal drill index set. These are quality bits and come in a nice plastic case. I usually use them in my drill press, but occasionally use them in a hand held drill. I always use cutting oil when drilling with these bits to extend their life. A good set.

I am rebuilding and modifying a Corvette. Part of that includes modifying some name brand seat brackets for a set of seats I bought. I am not sure what the hardened steel is that these seat brackets were made of, but I do know that I went through a bunch of drill bits burning them up and dulling them all. This Drill America 9/16 in. – 1 in. Cobalt Reduced Shank Drill Bit Set (5-Piece) seems to be just the ticket to getting that job done. I haven’t tested them out on anything else yet, but I can say these are some high quality bits, and the best I have used yet! You just get five bits in this set, but they should cover most of your needs, but it would be nice to get more like them in other sizes. I do a lot of gunsmithing, so some smaller sized ones would be really nice. I am thoroughly happy with this set, and recommend them to anyone needing to drill through tough material! Thanks Drill America, and Home Depot!

These “Silver and Demming”drill bits are machine shop quality are a very good value for anyone needing to drill holes larger than 1/2” with a LARGE drill motor, drill press or milling machine. Given enough power (not speed) and torque (twist) these drill bits will “Get’er Done”They are made from a proven quality alloy and will last for many, many holes if not abused.

Very nice set of large drill bits. I have been looking for such a set to use in my benchtop lathe and these fit the bill perfectly. The 1/2 shanks went nicely into the chuck. I did not notice any runout of the bits. As is typically the case I used another bit to center and start the holes. These bits are sharp. The soft plastic case is entirely adequate to keep the bits from being banged around and dented and makes storing the bits compact.
