A dependable, general purpose drill designed to perform in a broad range of materials in the iron and steel families. Ideal for production, maintenance or portable drilling jobs. Surface treated with abrasion-resistant black oxide. Made of high speed steel fir a 118° conventional point.
- Sizes included are 9/16 in., 5/8 in., 3/4 in., 7/8 in. and 1 in. with 1/2 in. reduced shanks
- Drills are precision ground to maintain a high degree of concentricity between shank and body diameter
- Bits are ideal for drilling in low and medium tensile strength materials
- Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge
- Drills expand the size range capacity of a portable drill chuck, common flute and overall length for minimal adjustment during tool changes
- High speed steel material
- Black oxide finish
- 118° conventional point
- All drills have 3 in. flute length and 6 in. overall length for minimal adjustment during tool changes
- Expand the size range capacity of a portable drill chuck

I love heavy duty tools that don’t feel like you’re going to break ’em when they are used as intended. Although I have not heard of Drill America before, I am impressed with these bits. Easy start self-centering bits make holding the drill in place easier.I could not find where these particular bits were made so the “America” part may be just marketing. The only downside to this set is the cheesy plastic tool roll. I find that the bits usually find a way to punch a hole in the bottom of the sleeve so they become free range bits at the bottom of the toolbox.

I was drilling through a plastic garbage can to make a compost container. The drills worked great! I was done in no time!

These are some serious looking drill bits. They are large diameter drill bits so I found that I couldn’t fit them in my cordless drills. I needed to use my corded drill that had a larger diameter chuck. The diameter of the drill bit shank is ½” so you need to have a drill that can fit that size. This is a reduced diameter compared to the drill bit diameter but it won’t fit all drills. The drills are nice and sharp and when I did some test drilling into wood they worked well. I don’t normally drill into steel which they mention in the video, so I didn’t try that. They come in a plastic case which is handy.

These “Silver and Demming” drill bits are a very good value for anyone needing to drill holes larger than 1/2″ with a LARGE drill motor, drill press or milling machine. Poor performance is not the fault of the drill bits, these larger drill bits require a lot of power and torque to turn them in tuff materials, sometime even wood.Smaller drill motors simply don’t have enough power to get the job done. So don’t blame the drill bit if your power tool can cut it even if the will fit the chuck. When using these bits power and torque are necessary.

These are very good quality drill bits at a reasonable price. You only need larger bits every so often and buying them by the piece can be expensive, these bits are right on point at their price. The bits are good quality tool steel and will fit any drill with a 1/2 inch chuck. The bits come with a plastic case to keep them organized and the bits are steel and can rust if not oiled and protected. Great drill bits, good value.

These drill bits are great and they are sharp. The cut down shank allows them to fit more than just large industrial type of drill motors. The largest drill bit has a three flats cut on the shank to hold the shank better and more securely to protect the drill bit from spinning in the chuck. Spinning in the chuck is more common with larger drill bits without the three flats cut into the shank. these black oxide drill bits more than meet my expectations of a drill bit.

I have acquired a mixed menagerie of larger drill bits over the years, some are dull and most are the same size. Usually none are the size that I really need and I end up borrowing one from a friend. That takes time away from the job that I am doing and slows the progress of the job. Now I can go out to the garage and get rid of all the larger dull bits.Note: size of bit is marked on the plastic pouch.

Great set of larger sized high speed drill bits. You get 5 bits in the following sizes:5/8”3/4”7/8”9/16”1”They are all about 6 inches long. They come in a plastic pouch, but I keep them in my drill bit collection loose, which uses less space and makes for speedier access. All have the same size shank that allow them to be used in almost all drill chucks, even hand drills. The shanks also have three ‘flats’ allowing a very sturdy grip in the drill chuck.Because of the very large size of these drill bits pay attention to the recommendations on the maximum speed for various materials. You don’t want these big boys to grab the workpiece and start it turning! There is no indication of where they are made.

Great pack of larger drill bits. I needed to occasionally need to drill larger than standard holes and these did the trick. They are heavy duty and will fit the standard drill key chuck size. I used these on and aluminum trailer I was working on and had no trouble what so ever with the bits. They come in a vinyl carrying sleeve. I’m a DYI’er and it meets all my expectations on what I do in my shop and around the house.

These are large, heavy duty drill bits. The reduced shank is great because these can fit into my 1/2″ hammer drill/driver. I used the 9/16″ and 3/4″ to drill holes through 1/8″ stainless steel. These both cut through very quick. the 9/16″ took about 5-6 seconds to cut through and the 3/4″ took about 8-10 seconds to cut through. All come pre-coated with oil. I wanted a high quality set of bits because I wore out several lower quality ones drilling holes into 1/8″ steel making a mobile light base.My only complaint is that these come in plastic sleeves and not in an actual case.

WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT THESE DRILLS THEY ARE “ High Speed Steel “AND WELL MADE HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT. I FOUND THAT THESE DRILL BITS ARE VERY GOOD FOR WOOD AND I HAD NO PROBLEM DRILLING THROUGH 1/8 SHEET METAL AND MADE A NICE HOLE IN THE METAL. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT EACH DRILL HAS A IMPRINT OF THE SIZE OF THE DRILL BIT, ETCHED IN THE SHANK OF EACH DRILL BIT.
