The GT-225 gas weed trimmer’s starter requires less pulling effort and makes for easy starts. The 2-stroke gas engine gives power in a lightweight, dependable package. All ECHO yard trimmer engines are certified with the highest EPA engine durability rating.
- Use a 50:1 ratio of fuel to oil mix for 2-stroke cycle engines, recommend using only fresh gas with a minimum octane rating of 89 or higher (mid-grade to premium) at all times
- 50:1 ratio equal 1 US Gal. 89 octane plus 2.6 fl. oz. ECHO PowerBlend gold oil or ECHO red armor oil

I bought this echo trimmer because I have another one that started easy and worked great. I wore a small hole in the gas tank by setting it on the pavement when I put new string in it. It still works great as long as I only fill it halfway. The new one is working super, just like theold one.

Got this Trimmer for my 54 th wedding anniversary in Oct, 27,2020. Opened the box and put fuel in tank ,followed instructions. Cranked up after 3 pulls and idled so good. Ran very good. I also ordered the bump speed feed head for this trimmer because I am so used to the bump feed system. As my new trimmer warmed up still with the rapid loader head still on the trimmer right out of the box ,I thought I would give this new trimmer a trial run. I trimmed around wood fence in back yard and everything I could find to trim. So impressed at how good this trimmer ran and the performance of the trimming. I went to the front yard and trimmed also edging my flower beds. the front curb and walkway and edged down both sides of my driveway. Still had the original factory line on the rapid feed head. I never once had to install another piece of new line. I also determined that if and when I would need to install new line I would not have to stop the engine from running to do this. So I am not sure if I will ever install the bump feed speed head or not. If this trimmer will maintain this performance for years to come I will be very impressed. My last trimmer was a craftsman and I have been using it for the past 7 years and it still runs Again right out of the box this Echo GT225 cranked easier and ran and idled better than any trimmer I have ever owned I also own an Echo 14” chainsaw that I like very much too..

Use nothing but Echo products and been happy with them all. Trimmer easy to start and even being 6′ tall the angle is good and have had no issues. The problem is the rapid load trim head. Strings break too easily and you cannot get them out because they break so close to the head. Will replace and try with the speed feed head, which seems to have better reviews. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I am so glad I purchased the Echo weed trimmer. I had previously used a couple different 2 cycle brands and always hade some trouble getting them started. So I switched to a battery operated Kobalt weed trimmer. Always had trouble getting the battery charged. A replacement battery cost almost as much as the entire weed trimmer. Battery went dead and would not recharge. I threw it out. Because I had previously purchased several other Echo brand products and always found them to be the best, I bought the GT-225. I have used it several times and absolutely amazed and pleased that it starts right away, runs smoothly and easy to handle. I highly recommend this brand over other brands and the price is reasonable for a good product. My only recommendation to the company on this product is rather than the string holder that comes with it is the company should replace it with the the bounce type string holder. 🙂
