Out of the box he blower absolutely would not start initially. After ‘many’ attempts I finally gave up and phoned ECHO who explained that for the very initial start (after sufficiently priming the carb with the purge bulb ) it is often necessary to rapidly pull the pull rope starter in short half pulls in the ‘run position’ (not in cold start position) up to about 15 times AND with the throttle position up to the full position (not in idle position). Sure enough it started after about 10 of those short pulls. For subsequent uses it starts as normal (following the manual instructions). I was told that they get lots of calls about this problem. While I was grateful for the help, you would think they would include this in the manual or maybe a flyer included in the packaging. The other thing about this model (I’ve owned a few Echo leaf blowers) it takes a quite while for it to warm up and reach the full RPM potential; more so that others that I’ve owned in the past. After it warms up, yes, it runs great. And I found that this model is well balanced – for a hand held this is important.

Wasn’t as powerful as I thought, my main concern is it lasting we will see how long. My craftsman weed walker didn’t last long but my echo product seemed to be going well so I will see if their blower will too.
