Purchased this on 1/18/2021. I had to visit three Home Depots to find one. (even though on their websites state a surplus). Easy to put together although I wish the instructions would have been more illustrated and more descriptive. First back pack I’ve had that had a ‘static’ wire that runs inside the tube. It would have been helpful if the wire was labeled instead of just taped off. Started up with no effort. Runs a little quieter than my last blower. I like that fact this has a five year warranty because 2 cycles are notorious for ‘leaning out’ and burning up. Decent carburetor and great straps.I plan to use pre-mixed fuel. My last blower (not an echo) I used pre-mixed and it still burned up the piston. It was a cheap carburetor and started running lean leading to a hole burned in the top of the piston. The carburetor on this one seems to be better quality.

I also own an older model the PB-550 which still works well and is powerful. Although, this new 580 model is noticeably more power and more comfortable with the additional padding for your back. I’m very happy with this quality machine.

Really good machine. I can confirm that in between TOP RPM engine usage and resting idle engine running, the unit is respectful of the level of noise we inflict on the neighbors. It is still a running gas engine but this 2 stroke with the amount of air thrust it puts out the noise is tolerable and it seems to direct the noise away from the operator as well. So earplugs for safety but you may not need them. Good machine, best I have ever used, but it’s the only one I have ever used.

Pros: Good value . Blower blows heavy and even wet leaves. Large fuel tank for extended run time. Speed control on blower tube is very convenient. Anti-vibration feature is a great improvement. More comfort.Cons: The rope pull is difficult. Needs to be designed for ‘easy pull’ as some lawn mowers are today. If the pull was easier I would add a 5th star.

It was easy to put together. Cranks perfectly every time. Make sure you run the gas out each time, and use mid grade or higher. Also use the recommended oil. The power is great and it will blow wet leaves and sticks. It is very comfortable too. Best backpack blower I’ve ever had or used.

I’m an old-school lawn raker. As long as I’m diligent about raking, it’s no big deal. This year, however, I was definitely not diligent and – since I live in the woods – my yard was thick with leaves. I’ve borrowed blowers from friends, from time to time. Last year, I borrowed the prior version of this model of ECHO blower and it was great. This year, I bit the bullet and bought this one. I couldn’t be happier. This blower is lightweight and powerful. Thick piles of wet leaves? No problem. I cleared my yard (just under an acre) in just over an hour. The only challenge for me was assembling the blower tube, since the directions aren’t very clear. Also, the end piece on the tube blew free a couple of times (probably because I didn’t jam the parts together enough when I assembled it). But these don’t even feel like problems – more like nit-picks. In all, I enthusiastically recommend this item.
