- Use a 50:1 ratio of fuel to oil mix for 2-stroke cycle engines, recommend using only fresh gas with a minimum octane rating of 89 or higher (mid-grade to premium) at all times
- 50:1 ratio equal 1 US Gal. 89 octane plus 2.6 fl. oz. ECHO PowerBlend gold oil or ECHO red armor oil

Purchased 10-30-2009. I have around 200 feet of various hedges grown with various plants. The hedges get trimmed 4-5 times a year and take about 3 hours each trimming. That’s about 140 hours of run time over 10 years. I am cutting from 1/8″ to 1/2″ stems and stalks. The trimmer also gets used 5-6 times a years for touch up trimming which is about an additional 10 hours.Problems- noneThe spark arrestor screen was removed before the trimmer was ran for the first time. The spark plug is the original and gets cleaned once a year. The air filter is original and gets cleaned once a year. I have only used REC fuel (non ethanol) from the first start. I have only used Echo’s oil at their recommended ratio. The drive cable and gearbox has been cleaned and re-lubed 3 times. The cutting blade gets sprayed down with WD-40 after each use but never resharpened. The blaes are still very sharp.Because I live in SW Florida the trimmer gets used year round and never hangs for longer than 60 days without some usage. Always starts within 3-4 pulls.The trimmer does live in my climate controlled garage so heat and humidity when stored is not a problem. After a years use the trimmer is really dirty and covered in sap but always cleans up to look not new but like a clean used trimmer.Maybe the trimmer will last another 10 years.

Good performance overall. Definitely a lot of power to cut thru thick bushes. The blades are sharp and makes clean cut. I really love the extended length of blades as i don’t need to use my 8-ft ladder for cutting my very tall bushes. Small step ladder will do. The weight is a little bit on the heavy side specially if you are trying to extend your arms outward. I gave it a 4 star because I preferred to have a throttle trigger you can lock in place. This model does not have it. With lockable trigger, I can position both hands for added flexibility and convenience to hold the hedger diff ways as you trim rounded and squared bushes.

I am extremely happy with my new ECHO hedge trimmer. I have used it 4 times already. Right out of the box, add gas/oil mixture, it is ready to use. Yes, I read the instruction book first, even though I own and use an ECHO weed-eater, an ECHO blower, an ECHO edger, an ECHO chain saw, and an ECHO short length hedge trimmer.This new ECHO hedge trimmer has the sharpest blade and is the easiest pull starting I have used. The extra reach on this trimmer has made my work around my home faster and easier!Men, I have been using my ECHO tools around my home for 25 to 30 years!They are VERY DEPENDABLE! Every winter I put a tuneup kit on each ECHO tool (spark plug, air filter, & gas filter), and in recent years have started using a small grease gun on grease fittings. THAT’S IT!
