I purchased the echo SRM-225. I used it the same day. The weed eater worked so well. I trimmed several of my neighbors yards.

I purchased an older model Echo trimmer 10 years ago and had quickly decided Echo was the best and that I would never purchase another a different brand. However, my older model is ready for a second carb/carb rebuild at this point and I decided to simply buy a second trimmer as a backup to old trusty. I purchased this model recently and took it home to get after 7 acres of trimming chores. I installed the Echo premix fuel, which I still highly recommend over do-it-yourself oil/gas mixture and it strarted right up. I quickly realized after about 10 minutes that the Throttle Trigger was too tight. After 30 minutes I had to stop. My forearm had completely seized up in what felt like a carpel tunnel attack. I barely made it through my hour job through gritted teeth and at that point had decided that the new trigger mechanism on the recent models was a bad engineering choice by Echo. My older trimmer had the near effortless flipper-style trigger that you see on many of the high-end commercial-style trimmers, which has never given me issue. I considered reengineering the newer trimmer myself, adding an older flipper trigger, but decided it wasn’t worth voiding the warranty. My recommendation to consumers – consider this before purchasing. If you have more than a once around the house job to do, this may be an issue for your as well. What makes this worse, is that I think Echo has converted to this new style trigger for all models. My recommendation to Echo is to return to the reliable and comfortable flipper-style throttle trigger, as this engineering choice may eventually kill the Echo brand.

I returned this after 2 uses. Maybe I’m just accustomed to my old 20v battery powered trimmer, but this thing had too much power and not enough control. Butchered my edging. Also, it didn’t start nearly as easily as I expected based on other reviews. I gave 3 stars instead of 1, simply because I’m sure some of my issue is being unfamiliar with gas powered trimmers.

I do my own yard and my neighbors who’s 97 and I was paying for the edging for both yards. I decided to breakdown went to HomeDepot and the young man working there recommended it. Easy to use and it started and the 2nd pull.Cheers,Mario

I have used many brands and models of trimmers since they came on the market in the mid 70s and this trimmer outshines every one i had used or owned. i was going to add a brush cutter but it has enough power do most of what i am clearing. I t also is the only one that the Bump and Go feacher has ever worked and this trimmer is a joy to use. the only negative thing i have to say is i had never had a speed loading head before and the instruction manual does not provide the instruction on how to restring it but a quick trip to youtube had a very good video,

Upgraded from an 18v electric and am very pleased. More than enough power for our 1 acre yard and easily creates a nice edge which keeps the wife happy. Very easy to start.

Choose Echo over the the Stihl because the echo is a true 2 stroke and I needed the power. Put the 225 to work in heavy brush and unlocked it’s true potential! Wow this thing likes to be worked and shines brightly!!!!!
