Very easy to start first time, easy to add trim line in a minute and holds ten feet, shoulder harness is not great…needs a shoulder pad

Have used Echo products for years and have found them durable. Hopefully this will prove to be the same. Although higher cost than many other brands, seems well built and operates without problem. Some assembly required, but nothing major. Some of the factory installed bolt in the U-handle were required to be loosened for alignment(per instructions). Some were seriously over tightened and were difficult to loosen. All necessary assembly tools are provided, but the small Torx wrench that was provided broke due to the tension needed to loosen. Fortunately I have better wrench. This does include the brush blade which many dealers apparently remove then sell it separately. It is a $20 item. The included harness is rather primitive. For any serious use, I would suggest purchasing a more comfortable and substantial harness.

I purchased the brush cutters expecting a metal blade to come with it as advertised. It didn’t. I could not purchase a blade my nearest HD because they don’t carry any. So it was well over a month before I could even use the item. The power is average and it does my small jobs.

This tough machine is perfect for me to finally clear a vacant lot I have owned for 15 years in the FLA Panhandle. It is heavily wooded with thick undergrowth, tangles of briars, thick vines and numerous types of young 1″ to 4″ diameter trees. (The bigger ones, I cut around on both sides to bring them down…nice and low to the ground with no stumps.) String trimmers can’t cut through this stuff. Chain saws do, but you can’t reach in to the middle of thickets to reach central stalks without hours of using hand tools tediously cutting brush and getting scratched up. This rips through everything in the way. I had to make some changes to the basic kit for max performance for this job. Tried two different blades and found a carbon tipped blade, similar to a wood ripping blade, that works best. I also upgraded the harness to double-shoulder style straps for greater stability and comfort. For me, this machine performs like a champ. Like all Echo products, it is easy to start and runs smooth. I love it. When this job is done, I’ll switch back to a brush-cutter blade for low brush maintenace which is very easy and fast to do. Great machine!

I purchased an SRM 225U on June 3. The included harness was missing. Instead there was a shoulder strap with no shoulder pad that was not only incomfrtable but cut into my neck while wearing it.I tried calling customer service over the next few days but was placed on a forever hold. So I sent an email. A week later I get a response that I was in error. It doesn’t come with a harness.I responded by copying the text of the ad which clearly states that it comes with a harness and asked for ECHO to honeor the ad and supply the harness. I never heard back. This brush-cutter/trimmer is almost $100 more than an equivalent Husqvarna or Stihl. I assumed it was because of the included harness. It is a heavy machine and requires a harness to use. I would not recommend ECHO.

Better than the Stihl produccts I have been using. Speed-Feed head is excellent.

I have purchased Echo products in the past and have always been satisfied with the quality and ease of use. That is a factor in choosing another Echo product.

I purchased this as a gift and it has not been put to use just yet, but I will say Home Depot promptly delivered the order in good time. I will update this when the machine is put to use.

Well worth paying a little extra to get a solid, well made cutter. I use to have a John Deere that never performed well.It comes with a brush blade that can handle more than advertised. I bought a extra blade (beaver blade) for bigger jobs and the engine size has no problem cutting through small saplings (2″).So far so good. Can get a lot done in a short time.

Very pleased with the quality/performance of the product so far. Light weight and nicely balanced, fit and finish is very good. Cuts tough brush as expected. Only gripe is that the harness that was provided, while working as expected, could be a bit better.

Once again…….. Thank you Home Depot. Your shipping is excellent. Let us hope that any need for service from Echo is as good. I will give the other star when it is proven. I have used the trimmer and it is tough and good so far.

Afgter looking at several brush cutter from several different companies I finally decided on the Echo SRM225-U. The unit works excellent and easily address the brush I have on my property. Only drawback is the supplied harness that does not provide enough adjustment for a 6’4″ man. I would have given it a 5-Star if it wasn’t for the very sorry on-line ordering process through Echo. The dealer didn’t even know the process existed and wasn’t aware an order came through. It finally got straighed out once they called their distributer and found out how it worked. I will give the dealer in Hot Springs, AR 5-Star Rating for the help they offered and preparing my tool.

I bought the machine to use for extensive electric fence weed control. Works great except the strap and attaching points need to be improved. My previous brush cutter is a Husqvarna 225R. It too has the wide handle bar style handles. and it too came with a harness to support the brushcutter. The Echo SRM-225U needs a better body harness to carry the weight better, and it needs a more adjustable attaching point similar to the HusqVarna to enable different operators the ability to adjust it to their preferences.I also think the carburetor could be better protected though this has not been an issue yet. Other than those two points, of which I think is important, Ithink the Echo isoutstanding.

The only area that is a little weak is the pictures/description that goes with the assembly. The total assembly process took around an hour. Overall weight is not light but balance is good.

Bought this equipment because of the warranty and reputation for quality. Got a brush cutting blade to clear out some areas of my lot. Has done very well at clearing brush and small saplings.
