First, it looks well built. Parts seem to be of good quality. I bought this because everyone’s been raving about Echo products, and finally got tired of my Cub Cadet ss418 4 cycle trimmer.Power: I started it, doesn’t sound as meaty as the other Echo trimmers online (not a big deal since one cannot judge by a video). At first, I thought maybe mine needs tuning. Finally got used to it, and noticed it’s pretty powerful. You really have to put use the trigger and feel out how much power you need. However, adding an attachment for brush might be better for thicker weeds.Ease of use: still trying to memorize the extra steps to power up, but not that bad.Fuel Consumption: really does well, and lasts long. I use the “ready mix” stuff. Buy the big bottle, it will last.Overall weight: it’s a little heavier than my last trimmer, after about 20 minutes fatigue starts kicking in.Bonus points: I have kept this thing running for a long time, and it runs smooth. As I said before, use the ready mix fuel. Would I get a second Echo? Yes.

I had an Echo trimmer for almost 20 years. Got this new, larger, model. Runs easy and strong…but it has trouble feeding the ‘wire’ more than the old model. The instructions, describing putting new line in, has one direction described, while the illustration is the opposite. Trial and error….but I always have to stop and manually “pull” the string out several times while using.

the bench mark is my srm 225 which is excellent, easy start n great running. this unit that I have of srm 2026 does not start as easy and fast on less pulls. it starts out like it has drag on some part of the drive line. it does not seem to be tuned as well out of the box.it does not measure up
