I bought this 25.4 cc straight shaft weed eater to replace my Echo GT 200R of 20 years; which by the way is still running. I had 11 acres in Varina, Va and my GT was a beast, cutting through everything around trees and eighty foot of ditch. Recently my GT started to bog down and lose power, so I decided to upgrade. I did my homework and came up with the husqvarna 28 cc and the Echo 25.4 cc – My Echo GT had given me years of satisfaction, so I stuck with what I knew. I’ve since moved from rural Varina and into the burbs. My new Echo did not disappoint in any way. This model has so much power / power to spare and is definitely not as loud as the GT. I normally don’t write reviews (as you can tell) but felt compelled to spread the news. SOLID PURCHASE!!!

Got this item because we were told it’s the best of its kind from some professionals. We wont be able to try it out until the spring but i’m sure it’s great. The only reason for the 4 stars is because this item ships in a box with the product on the front–brand, photo… so the person it was a Christmas gift for saw it on the front porch before Christmas 🙁

I have had this for several months excellent trimmer Wear pants. The skinny debris shield may as well not even be there. Just added weight.

I’ve been a proponent of echo products for a while as i do a lot of yard work. I’ve used a SRM-225 and SRM-230 for various jobs and found both units are great quality for the price. After giving my SRM-225 to my father for his house i needed a new unit to do my property. Due to the farm fields, roadside and embankments on my property i decided to step up to the SRM-266.The larger CC motor is noticeably more powerful and the extra torque makes cutting smooth. I normally use the .095 Crossfire Trimmer Line. But when cutting thicker brush there is so much torque that the Crossfire line was actually breaking at the trimmer head. Obviously i should have put the brush blade kit on, but instead i went to the .095 black diamond and had no issues. If you do a lot of yard work buy the large spool as this beast will eat line if you are edging near concrete, stone, or grave. The engine is great with almost no drop off on thick grass. The only con is that you need a good shoulder harness. I’m probably going to order the echo double harness online just to alleviate the weight and vibrations from doing lots of trimming. This shouldn’t be an issue with smaller lots but for large lots/projects definitely invest in a good strap/harness.Another echo product worth the price with good warranty. Just buy the plug and filter kit to change at the start of season and she should last a long time.Wear your PPE, arm guards, and work boots as the SRM-266 will launch objects due to the torque and rpms of the trimmer head.

very hard to start, very unusual for an Echo, disappointed, been starting small gas engines for 40+ years, know how to do it, you know some wise one is going to say “did you prime it?”, “did you use the choke?”

I had an old Echo eater that I had for years and I just wore it out.The new one is great. I wish I would have bought it sooner. I have over an large property and this machine makes quick work of it.Lots of power to do the job.The online app that guides yo uh though the product choices was a big help as well.I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a gr to at machine

Bought an SRM 230 about 11 years ago, it’s still running fine! With the new one, I can see the improvements and you will too, for just about the same money as 11 years ago!!We Love Our Echo Equipment! Thanks

This thing is a beast. I’ve used the smaller SRM-225 for the past 8 years or so and replaced it with this when that one finally died (and it only did after an in-law ran it without oil for a while). The difference in power is immediately noticeable. It’s just effortless. I can do 80% of my trimming at half throttle and really have to be careful at times as it will just destroy everything in it’s path. It’s a bit heavier, for sure, but totally worth it in my opinion. It’s in a different class entirely to the 225. I highly recommend it. One of the best trimmers money can buy.

I’ve always been a big fan of echo products. They are easy to start and last for a long time. I’m thankful that Home Depot carries the brand. Delivery was on time and the package was not damaged. The trimmer cranked after two pull which is another reason I like the brand.
