This tool is fantastic. I have used one for years around my farm cutting everything from weeds to tree’s 6″ in diameter. It cuts saplings and small trees flat to the ground if you want. TIP 1: Get a carbide blade if you are doing heavy brush removal including saplings and small trees. TIP 2: Turn the left handle, that is the one that your left hand will grip, turn it so that it rests on your hip and grab the handle that way. It keeps the tool more stable and gives you the leverage to move brush out of your work area. Also, it is less tiring. TIP 3: Learn to back cut. Hold the tool loosely when your doing so to keep from damaging it. NOTE: I am assuming here that the handles can be adjusted independently like mine which is several years old.

I bought the SRM-410 a couple months ago and it has lots of power, really well balanced. Cuts small trees and shrubs with ease. I just put the speed feed string head on it with .130 string and it is a beast in tall grass and weeds. I am very satisfied with it and highly recommend it. With the 5 year warranty on top.

I just purchased an Echo SRM-410U brush cutter, and have not yet used it. However, I would make a few comments concerning things I discovered while reading the instructions and assembling the unit. The blade that came with the unit was an 80 tooth blade, which I understood would cut saplings up to about three inches. However, the manual indicates that this blade is applicable only up to 1/2 inch brush. The information printed on the blade indicates it is applicable up to 3 1/2 inches. Which is correct? Then the Quick Start Guide indicates that you compress the throttle while pulling the starter handle. However, the manual does not indicate the necessity for compressing the throttle during this procedure. If it is necessary to compress the throttle, it seems that you might need a third hand.Next, I purchased the 4-point harness to go with the unit. Echo needs to come up with a different mechanism for attaching the cutter to the harness. This mechanism is most difficult to use. I am withholding a “Rating” until I use the unit. Well, they will not allow me to submit my review without a rating. So I am just going with average.

This machine is a great brush cutter, turns shrubs and small saplings into confetti with ease; it made quick work of the plants lining my driveway. Grass cutting is tough with this trimmer, though. It feels too powerful for the string head and lays waste the the grass so badly that it rips clumps out sometimes. I would recommend this for laying waste to bushes, but not for a delicate manicure of your putting green.

Power is excellent. Quality looks good only time will tell if it’s going to last. Used it a few hours on some heavy brush with saplings up to 2.5″ and a 80 thooth carbide blade. Cuts it with no problem. Once the cutter is set up it is fun and easy to work with. I received mine with little damage the plastic muffler cover was broken . The response from echo was very quickly after a couple of emails they sent out a new one. Warranty is excellent 5 years . Starts very nice and is quite. Looks like a winner. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because I don’t know jet, how long it will last. If it’s still going strong in a couple of years without a lot of proplems it will get the 5 star.

I have to clear a LOT of buckthorn from my 8 acres of woods. So far this brush cutter is tearing through it like a hot knife through butter! I have an ECHO backpack blower as well, and you will not go wrong spending your morning net on an ECHO product.
