Add wireless high-speed dual-band connectivity to your computer with the AC1750 802.11ac Dual-Band Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter from EDIMAX Technology. This adapter uses a USB Type-A interface so it’s compatible with almost every system; however, by connecting it to a USB 3.0 port, you’ll be able to utilize the max data transfer rate provided by the 802.11ac network. With dual-band connectivity, you can connect to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies for speeds of up to 450 Mbps and 1300 Mbps respectively. It also features beamforming and MIMO technology for a more efficient, stable, and optimized wireless connection. The adjustable antenna can be rotated 180 degrees for optimal Wi-Fi connectivity and performance. For security, this device has 64- and 128-bit WEP, WPA, and WPA2 encryption as well as a one-click WPS button for an easy set up.

Edimax adapter has a good throughput in 802.11ac mode, even when connected through USB 2.0. But sometimes it stops working and needs to be reconnected.

I did not trust it as it ran hot all of the time so I disconnected it after using until I forgot recently and it burned up. I had this for several years like this and worked well until the burn up.

I did a LOT of online research for a GOOD wifi adapter. I do not like spending a lot on one, but I also hate to have a weak connection. I had bought a wifi card (PCI) for a computer which was dead, and made me a bit paranoid about getting a dud. Also, I had bought a couple of those cheap $10 wifi dongles, and one has worked great, but the other has been a pain and is hit/miss (plays well with one computer, not well with another, needs driver manually installed / reinstalled periodically, etc.). I just wanted something that worked, and worked well. I read a lot of online reviews of some of the more common and expensive usb-wifi adapters. Some looked great at first, high ratings, but as I read the reviews it looked like the negative reviews were real and the glowing 5-star reviews seemed kind of suspect (very general). This one seemed well-reviewed without any significant negative reviews. I liked the fact it was USB 3.0 and could use 5Ghz wifi (both faster than USB 2.0 and 2.4Ghz, I think). I don’t know the tech stuff except it performs very well, get noticeably faster speeds than I do with my one good dongle (which uses USB 2.0 and 2.5Ghz). I bought a second one for another computer I built.

I had bad experience with EDIMAX AC-600. Now, I have better result with this item. I strongly recommend.

I found this unit as fast as expected. Well aware would not reach lab tests in a pristine environment but I enjoy the dual bandwidth ability. The speed is faster at this bandwidth than a unit meant for higher frequency’s since they all share the amount available for this cost.(3 bandwidths)

This holds the signal once it catches it. It helps dropping signals I was getting. It is very easy to set up.

Easy install, good signal strength., good price.

Device driver is troublesome. In Windows 10, the default driver is by Microsoft and the adapter did not perform well, it was erratic wrt speed and stability. After contacting Vendor support, their driver would not stay loaded after a restart. jAfter several days of trying bought a Linksys network adaptor which started and ran well first try.
