Record or stream an HDMI signal via USB 3.1 Gen 1 with the Cam Link 4K from Elgato Systems. With its HDMI input, this capture device will accept resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 30p. If you need to stream or record at a lower resolution, the Cam Link 4K can also work at 1080p, 1080i, and 720p.
The Cam Link 4K utilizes a plug-and-play design with its USB Type-A connector and HDMI port. Moreover, it is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. Elgato includes a USB 3.1 Gen 1 extension cable, so you can connect to devices from a distance.

Wow – just wow. I use this device at a ballet studio for live stream and virtual classes. The device is extremely simple to use and I am able to have teachers with zero experience use the device. It does handle all the resolutions I have tried and can easily switch cameras without breaking the host computer. I combined this with a simple HDMI selector and we now have a basic camera system capable of switching between multiple cameras live and on-the-fly. For the cost of the encoder / webcam pretender there is not much better.

I picked this up to record straight from my dslr. I’ve used with a Nikon d5500 and z6. Quality is crisp for both cameras. I was able to use with multiple applications including Zoom, OBS, and Streamlabs

“Life changing” might seem a bit like hyperbole, but but the Cam Link 4k has been just that for my virtual meeting life in 2020. I have had so many compliments on my visual presentation on meetings due to using a Cam Link with my mirrorless camera setup. I think if you’re a content creator, you should 100% own one of these (and you probably already do), but even if you’re not, this thing is great for business uses outside of that due to the possibilities it presents to your virtual meetings and presentations. I also can’t stress enough how easy the setup is. I personally use a Macbook laptop plugged into a monitor for work from home setup, and use this cam link through the Elgato Thunderbolt Dock and it was a very stress free setup, producing excellent video quality in my virtual meetings.

Very happy with this purchase. Plugged it in straight out of the box. Windows 10 detected device and was set up ready to go in 10 seconds. Works flawlessly as another capture device in OBS and Zoom. Connected to Sony camcorder and mirrorless.

Having not used my GoPro for quite some time and deciding to get into streaming this device has breathed new life into this 8/9 year old camera, simple and fast to get setup works a dream with OBS Studio. So Glad my friend recommended it. *****

The Cam Link is great for using your digital camera (dslr, or mirrorless) as a webcam for streaming and for video conferencing for work. It’s a bit overpriced and hard to get due to the current outbreak. You can get a generic capture card with UVC capabilities that is much more reasonable in cost. But overall, the Cam Link is great quality and does what it’s supposed to.

I bought this so I could connect my Panasonic GH4 to my Macbook and teach online lectures. It’s great! My classes now look really professional. The 4k resolution lets me show lots of detailed documents and handwriting while streaming straight to youtube.

This was a just in case purchase. But with all the ZOOM webcasting now in process, it was decided that having a solid web access system for webcasting might just be a wise choice for connecting and HDMI output Panasonic Video Camcorder to the internet in the very near future. It simply plugs in, provides you with a link for downloading an interface 4K Capture software program from Elgato’s website and you are in business! And, with B&H, there’s no better source for both competitive products, pricing, fast delivery, and superior customer service and support. Quite simply: B&H sets the benchmark!

In this case I paid more for the name brand option. The case is solid and a small white light shows that it is active. Do use the short USB to connect to the computer. It will get warm after longer use. I am pleased but some may prefer to save and buy a generic version.

I had to wait through the Covid back order but once it came I connected it to my laptop, connected my Sony camera to the HDMI port. Launched both Zoom and Skype she all I had to do was choose the cam link and there I was on living color. Fantastic. Already had a Skype to Europe and a multiple caller Zoom. Wouldn’t have any other interface. My wireless mic is wonderful through this interface too.

I bought a bunch of the cheap sub $20 usb/hdmi dongles and for the most part, they work, until they don’t. For one show with a high end client, multiple cheap dongles crushed our color profile. Luckily I found an Elgato in our workbox and once I swapped it out, the signal was perfect. Since then I bought 3 more. I still use the cheap-o ones for my webcam and other basic needs but for anything broadcast worthy, I only use this.

I use this for Zoom/Skype/Teams calls. Every single call I get ‘your audio seems to be lagging’. I cannot solve it.

I’m not a tech noob and it took me hours of troubleshooting to get the Cam Link 4k working. I’m on a Macbook Pro and using a Sony ZV-1, trying to use the Cam Link for Zoom and Google Meet calls. It worked once, and has only given me a black screen since then. I’ve looked at the Elgato support information and it has not helped. So it’s back to surfing YouTube videos, trying to find someone who’s solve this problem before.

I bought this after seeing other people use it I wanted a pro look to my content this turns any camera into a webcam long’s it has clean HDMI would recommend this if you own a camera that’s in the list of cameras Elgato has on their list that works with this over a webcam any day

I’ve been using the Cam Link since I upgraded to the A6000 and it’s so simple to set up and use. Nothing overly complicated or fancy, it just gets the job done.
