Record or stream an HDMI signal via USB 3.1 Gen 1 with the Cam Link 4K from Elgato Systems. With its HDMI input, this capture device will accept resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 30p. If you need to stream or record at a lower resolution, the Cam Link 4K can also work at 1080p, 1080i, and 720p.
The Cam Link 4K utilizes a plug-and-play design with its USB Type-A connector and HDMI port. Moreover, it is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. Elgato includes a USB 3.1 Gen 1 extension cable, so you can connect to devices from a distance.

Works great. As expected.

I purchased the CAM Link 4K to improve the quality of webinars/video calls at work, and I have had 0 issues in using it. Right out of the box, this is a plug-and-play solution that has worked every time I’ve needed it. The setup was simple – basically download a driver and off you go. It couldn’t be much more simple. For anyone looking to plug an external camera into a PC, I’d highly recommend this product!

If you need to live stream your video to a client via Zoom while shooting, use this and an HDMI splitter and you’re all set. Good low cost alternative to more expensive solutions out there. Highly recommended. I also recommend you use a powered USB hub.

After 2 months, completely gave out, tried all the tips and tricks, troubleshooting, nothing works. Whatever I do, I get hit with the “no signal” message. I contacted them for a replacement because this is unacceptable. From looking at other reviews, most of the people are experiencing the same issue. FIX IT ELGATO!!!

Bought this for use with Sony a6600 as Zoom webcam and 2018 MacBook Pro. Was inferior to simply using the Sony driver built for same use case (but unfortunately only available in Windows, last I checked), in that it taxed the MacBook significantly (plugging it in was correlated with laptop fan coming on loudly) and connects to HDMI rather than USB jack on camera, meaning it only runs on battery vs charging it while in use.

I bought the Elgato – Cam Link about a few weeks ago and have been loving the output it produce. Using the cam link in tandem with the stream deck has been a godsend, and life is a lot more easier when everything is streamlined.

This is a great way to get video from your camera for streaming or online calls. Just be aware of the lag. It’s not bad, but it’s not perfect. The quality between using this and a 4k webcam is night and day.

I’m using it to connect a pretty old Nikon dslr as a webcam for Zoom through its hdmi port and so far so good. You may have to adjust frame rates on your camera as there is a very tiny delay (it is processing video in real time after all) but nothing you’ll notice much. After a few moments the unit gets very warm too so make sure you keep it ventilated. It’s wise to look up your model of camera and how it pairs to this device before buying too.

After upgrading drivers, browsing the web, I finally got it to work. On first installing the Elgato 4K capture utility and trying to use the cam link, I got a message that my Radeon drivers needed to be upgraded. So I figured out how to do that. Then I received a message in the Elgato 4K capture utility that Device was already in use by another application. There’s a big question mark for help, so I tried that. I thought it was context sensitive help, but I realize now it was more generic and sent me in the direction of questioning my USB Connections. Knowing this was an older computer I began to wonder if there was something incompatible with my USB 3.0 ports. I tried them all. After a few days I tried bouncing the web to see if something might turn up. The first youtube was a dead end. The second was close enough that it sent me to task manager, looking for any app that might use a webcam. Somewhere in years past, I had installed Skype on this computer, which has no webcam, I don’t know why. But I tried terminating Skype and that fixed the problem. Quality of the picture seems ok.

Works flawlessly, no software to download. Just make sure you have the right USB adapter, then plug and play. We use it for higher quality video on Zoom meetings.

This is amazing. I used it to capture my Canon M50 and it works perfectly. Easy to use as well. Worth the money!

Works with most DSLR cameras. I use it with a Sony Alpha 6400 and the result is stunning. Not only gives you great definition, but very goof frame rate. Works with any USB 3.0 device.

Super easy to just plug and play. Laptop and desktop PC both recognize my Fujifilm XT3 as a video and audio input with no setup necessary. Can use for livestreaming, Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Very nice product.

This product is not compatible with Nikon D5000! After purchased it, I noticed it. There are some products compatible with any HDMI port cameras.

… and this one is just as great as the others. So simple, easy and painless to use. Just plug it in and stream. Super-simple. I have not used the enclosed software but I had no latency or glitches livestreaming with this.

This driverless device is a great value and works great They are true plug and play. The lag is there, but is relatively low considering the price relative to competitors’ products. Running 3 of them simultaneously, they convert 1080p 60 fps with a quad core i7, nVidia video and OBS software loads the CPU about 30%. Great option for streaming!

I have used my Cam Link 4K for 2 months and it suddenly just stopped working. The light doesn’t turn on showing there’s a signal going through. I even purchased new HDMI and USB extenders just to try to get it to work again. The computer will read the device but does not display anything. I’ve tried all of the solutions which aren’t many on the internet. I tried the HDMI cable from my external monitor for my DSLR and it worked showing that it wasn’t the cable that was busted. I would definitely NOT recommend such an expensive product for a temporary video stream.

Based on poor results with similar products, I wasn’t expecting much, but I am now quite pleased with the CAM LINK 4K on my Mac laptop. The software/driver download was easy and my Sony PXW-X70 camera connected to my Mac Air immediately. The only issue I have is using it on WebEx… the audio doesn’t get through… but that’s evidently a Cisco problem. I needed it for using my HD camera as a webcam on Zoom, and for that, it works perfectly.
