Excellent I beam level. The magnetic strip is the full length of the 48 inch level. I have a different one with multiple magnets along the beam. This is much better. The dials are clear to see and they could put one 45 degree dial near the middle and would make it even better. The ends are capped with plastic or composite. The caps are fairly small and a drop onto a hard surface may expose the aluminum beam to be bent or nicked. A great level.

The 48-inch 500 Series I-Beam Aluminum Magnetic Level is something I have needed and wanted for some time. With its 4-foot length, it’s a much better way to make sure a stud or top is dead on level, and this level’s accuracy is rated at .0005 inch in all working positions. This all metal I-Beam frame construction level is equipped with impact resistant end caps to prevent damage. A magnetic strip running along the length of the level makes for an easy way to use the level upright on steel studs, iron pipes and metal door frames etc. This level comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Love it you can feel how sturdy it is as soon as you pick it up.

This is a solid product. It is an aluminum I-beam type construction. It is very strong, straight and easy to read. The 4 foot length is fine for most things in my shop. I have several, less expensive plastic construction levels. They don’t hold a candle to this aluminum level, for about the same money. This level will be part of my shop for a long time. A keeper.

This is a nice level. It is light weight and strong. I like the fine sandblasted finish on the bright aluminum surfaces. The blue plastic parts are beautiful. It measures 4′-1/16″ x 2-1/4″ x 1″. One edge is magnetic which I found very helpful in a recent project. This level is a lot like another level that I have except that this level has the added feature of the magnetic edge.

I’ll be on the level with you. This tool does exactly what I need it to do- tell me if my work is level and/or plumb and it does it well. I haven’t used the magnet yet on a job but I tried it on the fridge and it sticks well!

Had my magnetic level for two weeks, so far it is able to handle being dropped 4 feet or less. My coworkers were a little surprised by the strength of the magnet on the level. I like that the magnet runs the whole length of the level. Makes it easy to remove metal shavings without getting caught.

I have found this level to be lightweight accurate. It makes an excellent straight edge. The aluminum frame is soft and mine has a number of dings and nicks already. One side is magnetic so it can be attached to metal. However, I have found that the magnet is barely strong enough to hold the weight of the level itself so be careful what you attach it to as it might slip. It is standard size and is easy to read. It only has one hole for hanging it for storage and it would have been nice to put one on the other end as well.

Much Needed Level When Scaling Up Projects.I thought I had all the levels I would ever need, including laser levels, but until I started to rebuilt my fence and wall I did not realize that the one level I really needed for these projects is a long one. This 48 in level by Empire (who makes great levels, squares, etc) fits everything I need: it is light, accurate, and the magnetic strip is great when taking the level on something ferrous. I debated getting the longer level (96 in) but I settled on the 48 in one as it will be more useful overall for what I do. The center leveling bubble is also visible from the top, which is very handy when setting stones in a walkway (another project). The built in handles make it easy to transport and to hang up on a pegboard when you are not using it. Not a level you will need every day, but one day when you need you will be happy you have it.

If you are using metal studs or leveling appliances, this is a wonderful addition to your toolbox. There is a magnetic strip that runs the full length of one side (see photos below) so the level sticks to the metal allowing you to make adjustments and watch the level at the same time rather than having to adjust then recheck over and over. I have other Empire tools that have held up well so I expect this Empire level to do the same.
