This may not be what everyone else uses this tape to do but I can’t work with out one. I measure revegetation success for habitat restoration projects using this tape. It is long enough to cover each transect and flexible so it lays over vegetation and the variations in terrain. With out this tape we couldn’t accurately quantify our success criteria for restoration success. I carry this around in my truck daily and it gets quite a work out in rough conditions. So far it has performed flawlessly.

Very solid, easy to use. This is a very nice, practical and easy to use field measuring tape. The tape is white with claar to read feet and inch markings. Whole feet are marked in large blue numbers, inches marked in black and at the 6” mark the whole feet is repeated in a smaller blue text. Each inch is further marked at ⅛” The end of the tape has a metal fold-out hook, and a small plastic collar to absorb sock if rolled back onto the reel too fast at the end.The tape unrolls easily, and the handle has a nice non slip handle. Winding it back is is surprisingly fast even at the ‘long’ end. One can fold the winder back to lock the tape reel from moving. The color is a great highly visible blue.It feels robust and nothing seems ‘cheap’ in terms of quality.Made in China.

Easy to carry. Easy to unroll and measure. Easy to roll up again. If you want a long tape, this is it.Since this has an open winder and storage carrier, I would expect that this should work well in wet, dry, dirty, mud, outdoor conditions for the remainder of my life. To rewind when dirty or having mudI place the carrying handle against my stomache and pinch the tape between 2 fingers as I rewind the tape using the crank with my other hand. The tape running between my 2 fingers helps clean off anydust/dirt/mud while rewinding. I figure that I might be able to do a loose wind and then rinse the whole thing in water or maybe use a hose to rinse. I haven’t so far tested this “rinse” idea as I have never owned a tape this long before. My plan is to use this tape along with a DeWalt transit I also purchased to learn concepts of surveying land and hope to be able to share this knowledge of application of math/geometry/trig with some high school kids later on in a math or engineering class I hope to help teach. That’s the story.

Have had one for years. Keep buying Stanley’s that don’t last. Found theses online at Home Depot ordered two more. Still great quality, very happy.

I can`t even buy a 25 ft tape for 20.00 so how could I pass up this deal. Even if it breaks after this job, I can afford another at this price. Think I will get a couple of extras just to keep on hand. Great deal on a good tape !

I’ve been surprised at how often I use this 300 ft reel tape now that I have one as easy to use as this one. I’m adding a section to my driveway and I grabbed this reel tape and had precise measurements over 75′ down to the 1/8″. I’m enclosing my porch so I grabbed the reel tape once again. Gone are the days of marking where my tape measure stops and starting a new run then adding the dimensions together. How did I live without a reel tape this long? This is a superb reel tape. The ABS case is durable and easy to maintain. The carry handle on top of the case is comfortable and the rubber grip is easy to hold securely. The crank on the side works nice and folds to tucks into the reel to secure the tape. The numbers on the tape are clear and the lines easy to distinguish. One side of the tape is in inches and the other side (yellow) is in an engineering scale. The strong hooks at the end of the tape make it super easy to use and retract for just one person. The limited lifetime warranty on this product is also a nice bonus.

You certainly can’t beat the price on this 300 ft. Fiberglass Tape measure! I’ve spent more on 25′ tapes! The fiberglass tape includes 2-colors for easy reading with white inches scale and yellow engineer’s scaleABS body helps in avoiding damage to the tape. The actual tape is fiberglass composition – so it resists rotting, corrosion and distortion.Nice tape – great price!

Nice fiberglass tape that comes in a very nice poly reel. The handle has a softer grip area that makes handling the tape a breeze. Fiberglass is a great material for a tape of this type. It never rusts and it’s easy to keep clean. The bottom end of the tape has a built in stake point so it’s very easy to position when working alone. The crank handle has a built in detent so you can place the handle in a 90 degree position for easy unwinding (see photo). The tape winds back into the reel all 300′ on the first try without having to stop and take up any slack. Some of the markings on the tape run together, some are printed lighter than others and some are just a bit blurry. This is a combination of standard and engineering measures, one side reads in the standard feet and inches (12 increments per foot) the other reads in engineering (10 increments per foot) not the standard 12. This should be clearly called out on the tapes case and on the tape itself. If you have been using this type of tape before then this should not be a problem but its something to be aware of when buying the tape.Overall this is a good tape at a very fair price that should last many years with reasonable care.

I got the Empire 300′ fiberglass open reel tape for long distance measurements for spacing of items, equal placement of items and for calculations of material such as exterior Romex. The tape measure has a placement point and a holder angle at the end of the tape measure to allow for one person usage. The open reel tape measure reels up quickly and without kinks or tangles.

For years, I have wanted one of these “long distance” tape measures, but, because of the infrequency of my using it, could not justify the cost. Now, I am so happy to have this EMPIRE 300 FT. FIBERGLASS TAPE MEASURE, I don’t know how I got along without one for so long! Its light weight and rubberized handle grip make it easy to get the job done, even by yourself! It unwinds and re-winds easily, without any tangles or kinks! The one issue that I had was the engineers scale on the reverse side. It WAS NOT marked as such, and at one point when I just needed to measure inches, was thrown off by using that scale instead of the inch marks on the reverse side! There should have been something, like a different color telling you that you were in a different scale! Other than that, I LOVE IT and highly recommend it!

GREAT TAPE, WORKED WELL FOR LAYING OUT MY GARDEN AND SQUARING UP MY LARGE ENCLOSURE. MEASURING THE LONG DISTANCE FOR MY ELECTRIC AND PLUMBING RUN TO MY GARDEN.

This tape replaces another Empire 300 ft I have had for years. The fibreglass tape cleans easily and the markings do not wear off. I would recommend this product to everyone.

I can now easily and accurately measure out football field line markers easier then ever. Twice a year we have football games in my yard and it was always a pain going out there with a tape measure and measuring every 35 feet, and the lines never seem to look right. Now with a couple stakes in have done in 30 minutes and looks straight. Has good construction and should be used for many years to come.

Nice clearly readable dual scales, and the 300′ length makes quick work of a good sized job site. Stow-able hand crank, and well connected steel clip attach point make this a rugged tool for long term service.

Each inch is further marked at ⅛” The end of the tape has a metal hook, and a small plastic collar to absorb shock if rolled back onto the reel too fast at the end. Winding it back is really fast even at the ‘long’ end. One can fold the winder back to lock the tape reel from moving. It feels well made and nothing seems ‘cheap’ in terms of quality. The fiberglass tape is easy to clean, and should last a very long time.

This tape measure is a real price performer! Let’s be honest, how many differences are there between the top products in this category – not many. The Empire 300′ tape measure has an impact resistant body and a very easy to read, 2-color, fiberglass tape. The tape has a very comfortable rubber handle that is large enough to hold with my work gloves on and the built-in hand crank flips over to lock the tape. I’m attaching a picture of the tape so you can see the high contrast that the black markings on a white background provide. The tape is one half of an inch wide and the numbers are about half that high. The tape is very easy to clean and nothing on the unit will rust. There’s also a limited lifetime warranty.I think if you were to examine competing products, they would probably be quite similar. So what makes this one stand out? The answer is “how deep you have to dig in your wallet to take one home”! Home Depot has this priced right – check it out for yourself! I plan to enjoy mine for many years.
