This is the Empire 48” Digital Level (model e105.48H). It has a host of features that make this one cool level. First off it auto-calibrates, so when you turn it on, it’s ready to use. Then you have seven different modes to choose from, depending on your task. For example, if you’re building a wall and needs studs to be plumb, but not to 1/100th of a degree, the Rough-in mode is probably good enough. Other modes give one or two decimal accuracy in degrees, inches or mm.The level has an “audio level” mode where, as you approach level or plumb, a tone sounds intermittently, and then changes to a solid tone (and a higher pitch) when you reach level (or plumb). I found the tone quite high in pitch, which means it’s a very directional sound. I don’t know if it’s because I wear hearing aids or not, but as I moved my head, the tone would come and go (especially the final tone), making it very difficult to use this feature—I think Empire should lower the frequency considerably to make this a more useful feature for us old guys (I didn’t take any stars off for this—it’s probably a personal issue). The level also has two digital displays, so you can view the readings from the side as well as the top, or what you may consider the bottom if you’re holding the level over your head. This was particularly convenient when checking floors for level. The backlight for the display is extremely helpful and can be turned on and off, as desired. My particular level does not have the magnets in the base—if you want magnets, get model eM105-48, which, as of this writing, is the same price as the one without magnets.I checked the level’s accuracy with a digital angle finder I have, and the Empire level was dead on. Overall, I found the level is easy to use. It comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame and vials, and a 1 year warranty on the electronics.

It was hard to spend $140 on a level, especially when I already had a 48″ one. But I was leveling a ceiling and it was frustrating being up on a ladder trying to read a bubble at different angles. This has a nice big lighted display that is very easy to read at any angle. I also like that the display auto flips around as I rotate the tool and the arrow indicators that tell me which way gets me level. It has been money well spent.

I had no idea I needed a digital level until I checked this one out. I have had neck surgery and have limited mobility. In addition I wear bifocals, further limiting my ability to view the bubble when using the level over my head. The audible queues provided by the True Blue digital level solves the mobility and vision issues, easing neck pain and making the leveling chore WAY easier. The end bumpers will mitigate the problem of trashing the bubble when inadvertently dropped (the reason my old level is no longer in service)

Level works exactly like advertised. Super easy to use, and the various modes are handy for different tasks. Would be nice to have light up vials given the price, but overall a solid level that seems like it will hold up well over time.

Works great! Perfect for verifying slop of sewer laterals.

Excellent well respected name brand level, almost idiot proof, (My nephew is just dumb) the use is simple and fast, good placement of the bubbles, nice soft case for carrying, but all manufacturers need to remember that we tradesmen need a hard case as we are not the most delicate people with tools.

Easy to read display, and convenient 2nd readout on topside. It also tells you what direction you are off level. Nice upgrade for me

Both of these levels are incredibly well built and are a joy to use. They’re very sturdy and much more functional than any standard bubble level. I wouldn’t purchase them separately at full price but am blown away by the savings I received when purchasing them together as a set.

I really like this level. No problems so far. Putting in a retaining wall. It will span 3 blocks.

This is an incredibly nice 4 foot aluminum level. It makes me want to go out and but an F150 and get a contractor’s license. The level has 7 measuring modes: 4 precision; 4 rough-in. It is IP65-rated for dust/water-proofing. This one is non-magnetic but there is a magnetic version should you desire one. The end caps can be removed if needed. There is a really nice handle built in- perfect for hanging from a pegboard hook. The huge electronic display is doubled on the short edge, making it a dual-display and super-convenient. I will use this a lot as a straight edge and it will work really well as such. For contractors it has slope info built in as one of the measurement options. I am extremely excited to begin using this. The manufacturer’s website is awesome and has a link to the user manual as a PDF: http://www.empirelevel.com/digital-levels.php.
