I have had a small 5 or 6″ torpedo level for yrs., that has severed me well. But it has seen better days. I mean it still functions, so I gave it away to a friend. I got this new Empire cause it is a 12″ and it’s a little easier to read (my old eyes) and a magnetic strip along r he bottom, if I need to use it on pipes. The old torpedo was all plastic & had some cuts & nicks. This new Empire seems to be both plastic & metal.

Great level! It has a lot of functionality for the price. It is also very durable and accurate. My only compliant is that the magnet is not very good.

Very sturdy. The blue is easier to read. After reading review on a professional site, I purchased this for our household on their recommendation and am very satisfied. Definitely would purchase again.

Nice lifetime USA made box level. I bought mine online as it wasn’t available in the store. Not sure if hd.com ran out of boxes but they shipped the level as is – not boxed. It arrived without signs of damage but the level vial was off. Plumbs where good. My local Homedepot is great to work with and took it back no problems. Ended up paying a little more to get the magnetic version which had all 3 vials correct. There’s some nice china made levels that I”ve ordered online and had the same issue with vials being out. ***I highly recommend buying levels in store – not shipped – so you can check them out and not waste time ***. The level is solid, little heavier and taller than an “I beam”, but not so much as to be a problem. For me, the light blue vial coloring is easy to pickup looking down from the top for level. When checking level from the side or checking plumb I find the yellow a little easier to see.

Solid quality analog level. No batteries to worry about and won’t break the bank when you misplace it.

Thats exactly why I purchased this level….for my tool box. Its larger than the usual torpedo levels, is magnetic and being somewhat longer is more useful(read higher level of accuracy….no pun intended)For most occasions I use this level now but still carry my torpedo level where this one is just too long…

The non magnetic side should have plastic on it to prevent scratching of walls
