Compact, wireless, and designed for high resolution photos, Epson’s PictureMate PM-400 Personal Photo Lab uses MicroPiezo inkjet technology to create detailed prints at 5760 x 1440 dpi at up to 5 x 7″, ideal for your snapshots and family pictures. It works with 3.5 x 5″, 4 x 6″, and 5 x 7″ paper, as well as No. 10 envelopes, for producing your most common and convenient photo sizes. Also, it is capable of producing a 4 x 6″ photo in about 36 seconds.
On top of all this, it offers borderless printing, Auto Photo Correction, and thanks to a 2.7″ LCD and SD card slot it can function without a computer. Mobile printing is an option with Wi-Fi Direct and this works with a wide variety of different protocols, including Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
The PM-400 can hold up to 50 sheets of plain paper for documents or 20 sheets of thicker glossy photo paper. There is also an option for single sheets up to 23.6 mil for more specialized media. Additionally, for connection you can either plug in using a USB 2.0 cable or connect the printer to the network using Wi-Fi.

I bought this printer so I could print photos at home for scrapbooking. Unfortunately I have only been able to get it to work 2X and only have printed maybe 3 photos. I have not been able to get it to connect at all since. I really wish I returned it. It’s been 2 years and it was a total waste of money. Won’t connect to computer or phone, by wire or WiFi.

I was a bit hesitant on getting this printer, given i have a HP photo printer, but i’m so glad i did as their picture quality is far better than the HP Photo printer i have. So much so, my mom went out and got herself one after i did a comparison of the two pictures from both printers.

I love this little printer. I scrapbook and it travels with me to crops and on trips. I tired the Cannon one and didn’t like the quality of the print.

The Epson PM-400 was easy to set up and is easy to use – very happy with how fast it prints and number of copies from a cartridge – this is at least the fifth different photo printer I have owned and by far the best.

I love the printer. My only difficulty is finding the printer’s ink cartridge in stores when I run out of ink. The ink can be bought online but it would be great to see stores that sell Epson printers and other major stores having the ink on location.

Epson makes a great product. The change from a standard cord to hook up to a computer turned out to be a nightmare for me. Cords that actually fit the ports would not power the unit. It ended up only working with WiFi. The old charm units I could plug in and use anywhere. I love the printer but the set up was two and a half days that should have only taken 15 minutes.

Have never used Epson printers prior to this one….when I need one for anything other than photos, Epson will be my first consideration.

Size and proportions are perfect for what I wanted. It took me several tries to get to this review page. I haven’t actually printed any photos yet–maybe I’ll feel better after I have more experience with this device. I hope I can print photos from my phone with only one try.

Awesome quality of prints. Absolutely, perfect for printing 4 x 6 photos.

I’ve bought nothing but Epson printers for more than 20 years. This one gets an unfavorable rating for the most basic reasons: 1. Can not be adjusted for color balance 2. Can not adjust brightness 3. Can not adjust contrast Other than that, it’s just great.

Without a doubt the personal printer has been a tremendous electronic achievement since its inception many years ago. In my early days as a classroom teacher, if I needed to make many copies of handouts for my students, I had to rely on a mimeograph machine after typing up a master on a sheet with blue ink that ended up all over my fingers. Today, the price of laser copiers has dropped significantly, and the quality of the printed results is extraordinary. Over time, dedicated photo printers also followed the same path as the personal printer. You really don’t have to go to the drug store to have have your photos printed anymore. I love the idea that the Epson PictureMate PM-400 Personal Photo Lab does one thing: it prints some incredibly great quality photos on either 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 size paper. Use top quality paper and if your photo is also pretty good, you can a get a very nice printed copy. I print directly from my Lap Top after I’ve done some enhancing and cleanuup in PhotoShop. The PictureMate is easy to use, small in size and always sits on my desk along side my lap top. Check out the reviews on the B&H website. This is what I did and how I decided on the Epson. Great product. Here is a sample photo

I wanted a small portable printer as we travel a lot – this seemed perfect for photos, postcards, and the occasional shipping label. I received the printer on time and undamaged and set it up in no time! Works great – suddenly I’m a photographer! Great item and it will travel well.

I received this printer for my birthday/Christmas…. I had been wanting a printer for so long. I have enjoyed it very much !!! Looking forward to give prints as gifts too !
