It’s fast. I compared the 4730 (residential use) with the 4740 (business use) and found that the 4740 has most of the features I was looking for where the 4730 was lacking. And the plus side was the 4740 was cheaper than the 4730. SOLD!

The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4740 printer is a great printer for anyone that is looking for an all in one printer. Epson always makes it easy to unpack their printers as everything is taped well so nothing can be broken. The installation of the software was very easy. I did mine wirelessly. All you have to do is plug the printer in and install the software in your computer. I followed the prompts and it connected flawlessly. The functionality of this printer is great. One of the features that stands out is that it has two trays for paper. This allows you to print bigger jobs without having to refill the paper in the middle of the job. Another feature that more Epson printers are including is the ability to print directly from any device. This is especially useful when you are away from your home but want to print something for your family. The most impressive feature is that it should be more efficient than a laser printer. Since I only have had this printer for about a week I am nowhere near knowing if this is true. I have really enjoyed this printer so far and can’t see a reason why I would go to anything else. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4740 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

For starters let me say I love this product, not only because it is was super easy to setup, but because the size is perfect in my personal opinion, and so far my printing experience has been delightful. Compared to the regular printer I have now (and I know you probably couldn’t possibly compare the two) the speed as to which I receive my print job is fantastic! I was a little worried when I was taking the printer out of the box that it was going to be difficult, or to heavy for me, one because I am 9.5 months pregnant, but also because usually printers are never easy to take out of the box. You usually have to do some turning, flipping, and sliding around. This however had a paper showing you exactly how to take the printer out of the box upon opening it. It was fantastic! The bag that it was in actually had handles and you just lifted the printer right out of the box! A+++ Setup up of the actually printer itself was very user friendly and effortless. Did I mention the printer is in my personal opinion once again designed well. Anyhow it comes with a quick start up guide for those of you who like to read, and see pictures, and then you also have the option to just setup following on the onscreen instructions that are directly on the printers LED screen. I have not yet used the mobile printing feature which I am absolutely excited to use, since I am the coupon queen and the majority of the time I use my phone a lot. I also have yet to use the scan feature to scan pictures that I would like to send off to the store to have reprinted. So as soon as I am able to utilize those two features I will definitely do an updated review. So far the unboxing, setup, and initial printing that I have done I can say I am extremely happy with. I never thought I would enjoy or be so excited to setup/use a printer. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4740 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

I wore out two 4630 series since 2010, the latest died last week. I figure this one should be be good for about 8 years, since my printing needs have dropped drastically.

Printing from my computer over WIFI connection is hardly possible. The computer can’t find the printer!!

Can be annoying trying to set up. Photo output is wonderful. Very fast. Hope it lasts longer than my WF-3460. That printer went caput with an ox69 error code after changing ink and unable to clear it.

So far it’s a very good machine. When my stupid iMac eventually finds the printer on the network, it works well. Prints clearly and quickly. I’ve only had it a couple of months so I cannot attest to it’s reliability yet.

I have purchased two Epson printers at my local Office Max over the last fourteen years and used them both extensively. With both printers I ran in to operational problems and had to contact Epson for assistance. On both occasions the printers were out of warranty and had to be replaced. The first replacement did finally give up the ghost and had to be replaced with a new printer. I deeply appreciated both the replacements and the Customer Service I have received. However, with the most recent replacement I was expecting the same model and received a newer model, which is okay, I guess (I had just purchased ink to have on hand for it before the printer went bad.) Then the ink I had just installed in the previous printer will not work in the replacement. Then again, the replacement printer came with the XL cartridges which is a plus and will allow me to save a bit of money to make up the difference in cost. Also I liked the rear self feed feature for legal paper on my old printer. It appears this new model does not have that option. Oh well. All-in-all I am excited to explore this replacement printer and give double thumbs up to you and your service. Thank you.

The interface with word is not easy when it comes to changing settings for printing one or two sided or for special layouts.

I have been using Epson printer since mid 80’s. All machine served me good except this one… This is a paper jam King… More than 70% chance the paper would jam if your printing document is more than 7-10 pages; or scanning more than 4 pages with auto feeder. Very disappointed. Minus 5 star!
