Max print resolution is an impressive 5760 x 1440, and with the P700, you can make gallery-quality borderless prints up to 13 x 19″ in size. A Carbon Black Mode provides a dramatically improved black density, which create rich, wet-looking blacks, and the printer is optimized for glossy and metallic glossy photo media. A 4.3″ color touchscreen lets you check printer status and adjust settings, and the printer also features USB 3.0, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi for maximum connectivity options. Additionally, the P700 offers mobile printing solutions via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Epson Print Layout for iOS.

Much has been said about the low amount of ink in the starter cartridges, so no point in going back there. This printer was a replacement for my old 3880, which did a fantastic job for me the many years I owned it. This time around I just felt like the 13 would work for me as I’m not printing as many large prints these days. Set up was a breeze, and I’m not a tech savvy guy. Very easy to get up and running, I had no issues at all. Really like the overall compactness of this printer, it seems almost tiny compared to the 3880 it replaced. Most importantly, i think the print quality is excellent. Now I also thought the print quality of the 3880 was excellent and I would not say the difference is spectacular, but to my (I guess I would say untrained eyes) my prints look just a tad bit more crisp. Overall I’m very pleased with the look and depth of color of the prints. I use the X-rite i1Display Pro for monitor calibration and really like what I see on the monitor versus what comes off the front of the printer. After using the printer for a while now, (I have received my 10 color ink cartridge replacement kit), I have also noticed, or at least it seems like to me, that this printer is a real miser when it comes to ink usage. I don’t know this to be a fact, but it seems for some of the ink cartridge colors they just keep going and going. I guess your mileage could vary based on the size of print etc. In general very pleased with my purchase of the P700 and would highly recommend it for anyone in the market for a new 13 photo printer.

I’m still in the first 30 days of using the P700, but so far so good. Set up was easy, no issues. So far the biggest improvement over my previous printer–Epson p600–is color fidelity. I always struggled a bit with skin tones for color portraits with the P600, but the p700 seems accurate with no special tweaking or management tools. I’ve been using the MOAB Juniper Baryta and the Simply Elegant Gold Fibre and both look fine. Black and White looks good, too.
